Holocaust denier

You know how they say closet homosexuals are sometimes the biggest gay bashers? Well, Austria is the world's biggest Holocaust-denier basher.
British historian, David Irving, says he's changed his mind. He now believes the Holocaust really did happen. An Austrian court didn't believe him and sentenced him to 3 years in prison.
Even the crazy Mullahs don't bother you for what you think. You have to actually draw Muhammad before they'll even consider burning your embassy, much less chopping off your hands.
Too bad for professor Irving that he had wrong opinions. If he had actually been a Nazi maybe he could have become president of Austria, like Kurt Waldheim.
No wonder Ahhhnold moved.

It is not about freedom of belief, it is about misrepresenting the truth. David Irving consistently misrepresented the truth about the Holocaust, denying that the Nazis orchestrated or engaged in genocide. If he chooses to believe that, that's his personal idiocy. But Mr. Irving is a well-known public speaker, particularly popular among neo-Nazi and white power groups. While we in America may find Austrian law slightly oppressive, we should understand those laws derive from the country's brutish history. Their shame at supporting the Nazi Party and its monstrous activities should not garner condemnation, but sympathy. Perhaps in time when if the wounds inflicted by Hitler and his machinations have healed, Austria will relax its laws. However, it is refreshing to see a country actively opposed to evil in all its myriad forms. Many countries today seem content to either tolerate or actively support the David Irvings of the world, those people who misrepresent the past out of hate. Good for Austria, I say.
