Working Out As Planned

August 9, 2011

Don't you just love it when a well thought out plan comes together? That's how members of the Republican Party have been feeling lately. Good about themselves. It's the way Tony Soprano and his cohorts felt after killing an enemy or hijacking a tractor-trailer full of plasma teevees. Satisfied with their performances. Take House Speaker [...]

Stunt Team At Standard & Poor's

April 19, 2011

Yesterday morning there was a political stunt pulled by the financial ratings agency, Standard & Poor's. S&P didn't actually downgrade the AAA credit rating of the U.S. government as several teevee talkers hysterically claimed, instead they "downgraded their outlook" of the credit worthiness of the U.S. government from "neutral" to "negative." The S&P said the [...]

Uncle Al

November 15, 2010

May 7, 2010

I didn't hear about yesterday's Big Dow plunge at the Wall Street Dog Track until late last evening. Just after 2PM yesterday, the Dow dropped 980 points. The market recovered after the plunge, somewhat, and the Dow wound up down 347 points for the day. What's interesting to me is that none of the Very [...]

Carl Levin On Goldman "Shi**y Deal"

April 28, 2010

If there's anyone left who still thinks the Great Free Market Money Shufflers on Wall Street operate any differently from, say, just your average, everyday, run of the mill, criminals……they should take 4 minutes to watch this…. Who would have thought Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) had such a potty mouth, huh? Goldman was pushing mortgage [...]

"Ask Marilyn" Flubs One

July 21, 2009

Marilyn Vos Savant is an extremely brilliant woman who writes answers to questions in the Sunday Parade magazine. This past Sunday, I think she flubbed one, badly. Take a look… My wife and I have lost more than a third of our life savings in the stock we set aside for our retirement. How can [...]
