Opt-Out? Why?

October 27, 2009

I've been busy. Normal daily blogging will continue tomorrow. Here's something quick on yesterday's health reform news-front.
Surprisingly, to me at least, the health reform bill to be introduced in the Senate will include a public option…..
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced what we've been reporting today – the merged health care bill will include a [...]

Health Care Reform Debate: Just Starting

October 13, 2009

I've purposely avoided writing very much about the alleged debate allegedly going on over health care reform. As I see it, up til now, we haven't been debating anything. However, now with President Max Baucus' (D-MT) immaculately-conceived version of health reform coming up for a vote today in his Senate Finance Committee, we're getting closer [...]

Nine big health insurance companies own 76.7% of the health insurance business in America.

Media Helps Anti-Worker Cause

It won't be the poorest or the seniors. Medicaid and Medicare will still cover those two most vulnerable groups.
That leaves the rest [...]

Free Market Criminality

September 3, 2009

Perhaps you've seen this story…..
Pfizer pays $2.3 billion
Pfizer Inc., the world's largest drug maker, will pay a record $2.3 billion civil and criminal penalty over unlawful prescription drug promotions, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.
……

We Are So Screwed

August 16, 2009

On June 15th, The Reverend wrote this…
"As I have blogged previously, I firmly believe that any health care reform coming out of Washington, inevitably, will exclude a public option and, most likely, will tax employer-provided health care benefits as well. Love to be wrong about that."
Two months and a hundred swastikas later….
Senator Kent Conrad [...]

Health Care & Abortion

August 14, 2009

Let me start out today by stating the facts. Abortion is legal in this nation. The abomination known as the Hyde Amendment currently prevents government money from being used to pay directly for abortions.
These two facts are now clashing with each other in health care reform negotiations. Here's a few tastes…
ABC's Jake Tapper reports….
Sen. Judd [...]

Boneheads, Thugs-N-Disharmony

Blog Correction: Keith Olbermann had an update on something I blogged about over the weekend. Apparently, the NY Times Saturday article stating that Fox and NBC had reached some self-censorship deal between Bill O'Reilly and Keith Olbermann is not true. If you're interested in this story…watch this short video from last night…
