If you don't read Glenn Greenwald's blog at Salon.com regularly…..I highly recommend doing so. I have been reading Greenwald for a few years. He is a constitutional lawyer with a razor sharp writing style that's easy for laypeople, like me, to follow. Of all print media, Greenwald's blog ranks 9th in a list of the most widely read publications.

This morning Greenwald blogs about yesterday's released Inspector General's report on former president Bush's NSA activities.

If you recall, Bush started a secret and illegal program immediately after 9-11 that he eventually called the "Terrorist Surveillance Program"(TSP). Bush's new program directly violated existing wiretapping laws as set forward in the FISA laws passed in 1978.

Let's review….

Bush's secret and illegal program wiretapping Americans without FISA warrants came up for "renewal" in 2004. That was when the whole late night hospital room visit to then Attorney General, John Ashcroft, took place. Andrew Card and Abu Gonzlaes were dispatched to Ashcroft's room to pressure the heavily medicated AG to sign off on Bush's "programs."

The IG report informs us that it was Bush, himself, who badgered Mrs. Ashcroft on the hospital phone insisting that her husband must meet with Card and Gonzales. The reason for this frantic Soprano-like scene was because acting AG, James Comey, would not sign-off renewing the "programs."

Why not?

Conservative Bushies, James Comey, Jack Goldsmith and eventually, even Ashcroft, himself, threatened to resign rather than sign-off on the renewal of the president's illegal "programs."

From the IG report….

"On March 12, 2004 an interagency working group led by OLC (Office of Legal Counsel) was convened reanalyzing the legality of the PSP. In the days that followed, Goldsmith continued to express doubt that a viable legal rationale could be found for some of the Other Intelligence Activities being conducted under the PSP.

On March 16, 2004 Comey drafted a memorandum to White House Counsel Gonzales setting out his advice to the President. According to the memorandum, Comey advised that DOJ remained unable to find a legal basis to support certain Other Intelligence Activities that had been authorized as part of the program and that such activities should be discontinued immediately."

There's no question here that even loyal Bushies thought the President had violated law.

Here's Gonzales responding on the evening of March 16….

"Your memorandum appears to have been based on a misunderstanding of the President's expectations regarding the conduct of the Department of Justice. While the President was, and remains, interested in any thoughts the DOJ may have on alternative ways to achieve effectively the goals of the activities authorized by the presdiential Authorization of March 11, 2004, the president has addressed definitively for the Executive branch in the Presidential Authorization the interpretation of the law."

You see….Bush didn't care whether his own Justice Department had concluded that the "activities" were illegal and needed to be stopped, "immediately." Bush, alone, had already determined the proper "interpretation" of the law. Bush, through Gonzales, was telling his own supporters in the DOJ to f*ck off…..just sign the renewal like I told you to, nobody asked for your legal opinions.

Even though the illegal wiretapping program was eventually signed off on….the "Other Intelligence Activities" were dropped by Bush. We can only speculate on the nature of these "other", apparently, extremely illegal, "activities." The IG report doesn't tell us anything about them.

Now imagine…loyal conservative Bushies, Comey, Goldsmith, Ashcroft, were willing to resign over the "other activities", rather than sign-off giving their approval.

Just how rogue was the Bush White House?

We'll never know.

From 2002-2006 Republicans controlled Congress by an ever-so-slight margin, so if Bush-Cheney were to be successful in carrying out their criminal plans against America and some foreign countries, it would take the help of, at least, a few congressional Democrats.

A prime example of the veracity of this claim is found in Senator Jay Rockefeller's (D-WV) aiding of Mr. Bush and The Dick on immunizing telecommunications companies who participated in a conspiracy with the Terror Twins to spy on Americans illegally. Rockefeller was rewarded handsomely for his efforts from the telcos….lots of campaign bribery cash….and the Bush-Cheney syndicate successfully closed off one more potential ray of light from shining into the darkness of their mostly-criminal administration.

Now comes Jane Harmon (D-CA). The story out yesterday about Jane Harmon is a BIG story. It gives us an insider look at how high-level crimes are carried out by elected officials, and how both sides are complicit in those crimes.

CQ Politics broke the story yesterday….

Sources: Wiretap Recorded Rep. Harman Promising to Intervene for AIPAC

Rep. Jane Harman , the California Democrat with a longtime involvement in intelligence issues, was overheard on an NSA wiretap telling a suspected Israeli agent that she would lobby the Justice Department to reduce espionage-related charges against two officials of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the most powerful pro-Israel organization in Washington.

Harman was recorded saying she would "waddle into" the AIPAC case "if you think it'll make a difference," according to two former senior national security officials familiar with the NSA transcript.

In exchange for Harman's help, the sources said, the suspected Israeli agent pledged to help lobby Nancy Pelosi , D-Calif., then-House minority leader, to appoint Harman chair of the Intelligence Committee after the 2006 elections, which the Democrats were heavily favored to win.

Seemingly wary of what she had just agreed to, according to an official who read the NSA transcript, Harman hung up after saying, "This conversation doesn't exist."

The CQ Politics piece is a must read.

In September of 2007 I wrote about Harman's role in helping Bush-Cheney to legalize the abolishing of the 4th amendment in the FISA rewrite bill.

Long story short…AIPAC was lobbying Harman for the purpose of obstructing justice in a criminal case involving some of their members. Harman wanted the Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, Bush/Gonzales wanted Harman's continued vote and leadership within the Democratic caucus over the illegal-wiretapping-of-Americans program.

Harman helped AIPAC….AIPAC helped Harman….Gonzales protected Harman from further investigation.

Please read this story….it is one of those rare opportunities when we get to see how the incestuous clusterf*ck in Washington D.C. actually works.

Kudos to the Beacon for today's McClatchy Newspaper piece written by Tom Lasseter. Mr. Lasseter explains how the lawlessness, savagery and unaccountability witnessed during the Bush/Cheney administration germinated and grew into the detainee torture and abuse disgrace the nation is finally finding out the details about today.

What was done….

The framework under which detainees were imprisoned for years without charges at Guantanamo and in many cases abused in Afghanistan wasn't the product of U.S. military policy or the fault of a few rogue soldiers.

It was largely the work of five White House, Pentagon and Justice Department lawyers who, following the orders of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, reinterpreted or tossed out the U.S. and international laws that govern the treatment of prisoners in wartime, according to former U.S. defense and Bush administration officials.

Why it was done…

The quintet of lawyers, who called themselves the "War Council," drafted legal opinions that circumvented the military's code of justice, the federal court system and America's international treaties in order to prevent anyone — from soldiers on the ground to the president — from being held accountable for activities that at other times have been considered war crimes.

Who made up this "War Council"….

David Addington, the brilliant but abrasive longtime legal adviser and now chief of staff to Cheney.
Alberto Gonzales, first the White House counsel and then the attorney general,…
William J. Haynes II, the former Pentagon general counsel,….
…former Justice Department lawyer John Yoo…
Timothy E. Flanigan, a former deputy to Gonzales…

Bush's reason….

The administration…… set out to circumvent any law that might have restricted Bush's detainee and interrogation programs. Link

The Bush administration has been a lawless regime. Not simply a presidential leader who has casual sex with someone other than his wife in his work office….and then lies about it. Not simply that. Instead, an ongoing, systematic, premeditated and wilful strategy to circumvent and violate international, national, and Constitutional law.

All of the Bush/Cheney co-conspirators, as I've said for many years, deserve to be locked away in federal prisons.

The McClatchy story is yet more evidence to place onto the vast heap of already incriminating material against the worst executive branch in American history.

Extra Bonus Feature:

My-oh-my….

Florida
Margin of error: ±2.6%

Ohio
Obama (D) 48%, McCain (R) 42%
Margin of error: ±2.6%

Pennsylvania

While we're waiting for the primary results….let's have a bit of fun with those wild and crazy Bush people.

First an overview…

The Congress, currently corrupt to the gills as they represent their constituencies in big business, their only constituency,….is about to return the nation's oversight of the executive branch back to pre-1978 days. And while they are doing this behind the curtain of the front page primary coverage, because they are brave patriots full of courage, they are going to throw in "get out of accountability" cards for all complicit, yet patriotic, co-conspirators who helped with the Bush crimes.

The telcos, rife with an army of high priced attorneys, shouldn't be held responsible for conspiring with the executive branch in the wholesale vacuuming up of American's private information. That's how Congress will eventually "see it" when they vote with the president.

Starting in February of 2001, months before the Towers fell, the Bush/Cheney regime began violating 30 year old FISA laws. Laws that no other president had any problem obeying. Laws that were obeyed by all presidents during the nation's most dangerous period. A period in which dozens of nuclear tipped missiles were aimed at the Heartland by the Soviets.

The Soviets were the most dangerous threat America has ever withstood, making box cutter carriers look like simpletons in comparison. Yet, no president during that time simply violated FISA laws, at will, seeking to justify the violation, the crime, by saying our enemies were just too dangerous for us to be obeying laws anymore.

Remember this one point before we laugh at another Bushie. To this day, Americans still do not know the extent of Bush/Cheney lawbreaking in the area of spying on Americans without warrrants. The sole purpose for the longest of the Bush tantrums is to keep the extent of the lawlessness secret. If Congress doesn't give telcos a pass on crime, then those nagging lawsuits will go forward…..and eventually Bush's badness will be exposed in all it's ugliness.

It's all about Georgie.

Now the quote of the day….

Kenneth Wainstein, assistant attorney general for national security, said at the same meeting that key issues surrounding the legislation had been hashed out in a "long and tedious" but "healthy" process, aimed at updating the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

….

"This is not amnesty," Wainstein said at the meeting. "This is targeted immunity" for companies who meet requirements specified in the Senate bill that include having received an attorney general's certification that their assistance was determined to be lawful. Link

I don't know if you have noticed over the last, I don't know, 7 years or so…..how words no longer have any meaning. Have you noticed that at all? I realize crazy guys like me have been attempting to point this word stuff out…but you know, I'm crazy.

This bill Wainstein is warbling about is called, and with a straight face mind you, the Protect America Act. The purpose of the bill is to keep George W. Bush protected from being held accountable to law…..and so, rightfully, should be called the Protect George W. Bush Act….but Congress, in their brilliance, prefers giving bills names that suggest the OPPOSITE of what they really are.

Some might suggest language like this is Orwellian. However, all that those brave and courageous patriots in D.C. are really doing is a bit of remedial English, don't you think? Kind of a crash course on antonyms. Perhaps it's part of the Education President's, No Congressperson Left Behind, effort. Gotta' keep those representatives up to par on word meanings and usage and all that…or hell, they won't pass the Corporate Standarized Testing, and thus will fall behind on campaign contributions. Talk about fear.

I find the parsing, oops did I say parsing?….I meant…I find the explanation by Wainstein to be quite entertaining. Immunizing criminally complicit mega-telcos is not amnesty….by God. According to Wainstein, if complicit telcos hadn't received a letter from Abu Gonzales certifying that the crime that they were about to commit, was legal…..then "immunizing" them from prosecution could be called "amnesty". But see? That's not what happened.

To bring this lofty English lesson down to street level…..it would kind of be like Tony Soprano's attorney sending a letter to Christopher (Tony's nephew) explaining to him that, after reviewing the details, it actually would not be illegal for Christopher to go ahead and kill a rival bad guy. Yeah, killing was still illegal. However, because Christopher had received certification from Tony's attorney that it wouldn't be illegal, he shouldn't be held accountable for murder.

You see, that, according to yet another Bush stooge, wouldn't be amnesty….that would be immunity. More precisely, "targeted immunity", which I take to mean, "just the guys we say, go free". In my made-up Sopranos account, of course, "targeted immunity" might take on a whole new meaning, whatever,… the dead person doesn't know the difference so why should we care?

In actuality, immunity means no charges can take root against the immunized party. Ever. Amnesty presumes guilt and a wiping away of the guilt by fiat. That's why the Bush wordsmith, Wainstein, says the laughable stuff he says here.

Paraphrasing: 'Well, it isn't amnesty because nothing illegal has been done to be forgiven or wiped away. We know this because Alberto Gonzales, a man of the highest integrity, certified that nothing had been done illegally. We're granting immunity, which means nothing can ever be brought up, now or in the future, accusing these co-conspirators of wrongdoing. They haven't done anything illegal, but just in case, we're immunizing them from any illegality they didn't do."

That's some logic you can really sink your teeth into. Logic that the likes of Tony Soprano could learn from. Old Tony could have saved himself a lot of trouble if his lawyers would have only used the right words.

You just knew there was more to Alberto Gonzales' stepping down in August than the Knee Pad bullsh*t that was shoveled our way….

The U.S. Inspector General may recommend criminal prosecution of departed Attorney General Alberto Gonzales at the conclusion of an investigation, possibly as early as next month, the fired former U.S. attorney for Western Washington told a Spokane audience Friday.

His refusal to open a federal criminal investigation into voter fraud allegations in Gov. Chris Gregoire’s (Washington State)razor-thin victory over Republican challenger Dino Rossi in 2004 may be the reason he was fired, John McKay told the Federal Bar Association.

….

"My best guess is it will be released(final report) sometime next month,’" and likely will include recommendations for criminal prosecutions of Gonzales and maybe others, McKay said.

Gonzales "lied about" reasons for the firings when questioned under oath in July by the Senate Judiciary Committee and now has hired a lawyer and is refusing to answer questions from the Inspector General, McKay said. Link

Won't it be just great when Junior commutes Albertos' prison sentence? We'll be able to hear all about how attempted obstruction of a state election by the White House is simply politics as usual. Jesus…what are they going to outlaw next…slavery?

Fire somebody because they won't do a hit for you. That is standard operating procedure alright….if you are Tony Soprano.

Abu..dude…I recommend the sleep deprivation, you know, if you get a choice.

I was away from my computer all day yesterday and wouldn't you know it? Lots of, what appear on the surface, important news. Of course, Alberto Gonzales stepping down seems the most significant.

The first thing to remember in Alberto's resignation is this: The Bush White House has never done ANYTHING of significance without a political goal in mind. A strategy that is purely political. The Commander Guy, himself, isn't much interested in governing. He never was. But he likes the political fighting….a lot. People will disagree with me on this but it matters not, on this, The Reverend is correct. Any politicos who would place soldiers in harm's way, out valuable CIA agents, dismantle the Justice Department(for starters), all for the sake of holding and/or gaining political power…..wouldn't do anything significant without first having the primary purpose of political gaming in mind.

The blogosphere is buzzing, as you would expect, speculating on why Gonzales stepped down now, with many, many theories being thrown around.

Here's The Reverend's take:

First, Bush's words yesterday about Gonzales:

After months of unfair treatment that has created a harmful distraction at the Justice Department, Judge Gonzales decided to resign his position, and I accept his decision. It's sad that we live in a time when a talented and honorable person like Alberto Gonzales is impeded from doing important work because his good name was dragged through the mud for political reasons. Source

Very obviously, Bush is not giving in even an inch on admitting that Gonzales has EVER done anything wrong. No admission of error….typical Bush strategy. He never admitted any misjudgments or errors by Don Rumsfeld, either. Why the resignation, then? Why accept Gonzales' resignation now, if indeed, Alberto hasn't done anything wrong?

Simple. The Dems have been "dragging" the blemish free Attorney General's name "through the mud" and because the Dems are doing this they are "impeding" Gonzo's "important work". It's the Democrats fault that Gonzales had to resign.

Here's Senator John Cornyn from Texas….one of the worst Republican creatures ever….and yesterday's designated hitman for the White House…

His resignation marks another casualty of the hyper-partisan atmosphere in Washington that does not serve the best interests of the American People.

[...]

…his (Gonzales) mistake was underestimating the ferocity of relentless partisan attacks and not preparing more to address them. Perhaps because their attention was distracted by 300 other investigations already launched by the Democratic majority, the Justice Department did a very poor job in responding to these spurious charges.

To be clear, Senate Democrats control a Senate at a period of historic low regard by the American people for the very reasons that bring us where we are today. Now, the question is: once the President chooses a new nominee…will they conduct a fair confirmation process, or will they continue the partisanship and endless investigations that have been the hallmark of this Congress. Since taking power over 200 days ago, Democrats have opened more than 300 investigations and held more than 600 oversight hearings, while their other notable accomplishment is renaming 20 post offices. Source

See? It's simple. According to Sen. Cornyn, the only mistake Alberto Gonzales made was "underestimating the ferocity of relentless partisan attacks". It's those damn Democrats fault again.

When Democrats won back the Congress last November (narrowly in the Senate) the GOP strategy, going forward after their defeat, was to stonewall by filibuster and the like. Not allow any Democratic "victories", so to speak. The political ploy called "the surge" was all part of this political plan to attenuate the Democratic win. The political "surge" was the "we create reality now" plan to fight with Democrats over. The Republicans knew, if they stuck together, they could stop the Democrats from ending Bush's war of choice in Iraq. And so they did. Then these same GOP'ers could point to the Democrats "failures", gleefully, as a reason to reject them in 2008. That's what they have been doing and that's what Cornyn did again yesterday.

I believe, at this point, that Gonzales stepped down yesterday in order to start another fight with Democrats in an upcoming nomination and confirmation ordeal for a new Attorney General. And right at the same time that the Iraq issue will be going hot and heavy. Cornyn made specific reference to "300 investigations", "600 oversight hearings" to prepare the media for what's coming next.

Bush will face the Iraq quagmire situation in September. He has no choice if he wants to "stay the course", never admitting error. The Congress must approve the funding. Through all this the president and the GOP cretins must not allow Dems to gain any edge, even though 65% of Americans want us out of Iraq. Attempting to make the Democrats look like 'witchhunters' in a new confimation hearing for an Attorney General, I believe, was the reason why Gonzales stepped down NOW. The Republicans must believe they can build on current low Congressional approval numbers that, they themselves, helped create, by throwing Democratic questioning of a new AG nominee into the "300 investigations" category. Expect a controversial nominee, you know, somone that can really be fought over.

Typical Rovian theater. Pick a new fight, then blame the other side for fighting. Point out, and have the lapdog media repeat endlessly, that all the Dems want to do is fight and that's why their numbers keep going lower. Rinse and repeat.

So be looking for this new dynamic next month to blunt any Iraq negativity that somehow leaks out making the Decider, and the GOP Rubber Stampers who support him, look even worse. Yes, after all this time, that's still possible.

I hear the Knee Pad Media bunch is expecting a new delivery of knee pads soon in preparation for their September "work".

First…. I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

Libby, it is now known, lied repeatedly to a Grand Jury, while under oath, in an attempt to obstruct the investigation into the White House's outing of the covert CIA agent, Valerie Plame. Scooter was convicted by a jury on four felony counts of perjury and obstruction of justice and sentenced to 30 months in federal prison. The president quickly commuted Libby's prison sentence while leaving Scooter's conviction standing, thus removing any risks that Libby would tell what he knew out of fear of prison and yet at the same time giving Libby an excuse to remain silent while his appeal of the still standing conviction was carried out. Fifth amendment rights being what they are.

The Reverend has no doubt that Libby purposely lied. He became the "designated liar" in the whole Plame caper. The Scooter is a very shrewd and intelligent lawyer who knew, while he was lying, what he was doing. By doing his obedient lying for the White House he was accomplishing two things. First, he was protecting the conspiracy that George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove had worked out in their attempts to silence critics like Joe Wilson. Secondly, as the Plame case was adjudicated Libby was kicking the can down the road. The can of worms that was the fraudulent selling of Bush's neo-conservative war of choice in Iraq. Bush did not want that can of worms opened before the re-election of Bush/Cheney in 2004. After the re-election the Libby trial became a diversion in itself helping to run out the clock on the Bush administration which ends (hopefully) in 2009. Scooter knew he would be pardoned. It was all just a matter of when and how.

Scooter Libby was and is a loyal soldier of the Bush neo-conservative cult.

Now Alberto Gonzales….

With Alberto's spectacular lying session before a Senate committee this week, the similarities with Libby are unavoidable. Alberto Gonzales has been lying with intent and did so again this week. In this he is similar to Scooter Libby. Did Libby know he was lying? Of course. Does Gonzales know he is lying? Of course he does.

Why is Gonzales lying about firing U.S Attorneys, torture memoes he helped draft, late night visits to the hospital, and the president's illegal warrantless wiretapping on Americans program? Just like in the case of Libby, Alberto is lying to protect his criminal bosses in the hopes that the clock ticking down on their administration will run out. All the while knowing that this hopelessly criminal president will surely pardon Gonzales, Bush's ol' Texas buddy, of any and all wrongdoing.

After listening to Gonzales' cocky and defiant testimony of lies this week, I came away with only one answer to why a man who is the Attorney General of the United States of America would do what he did. He, just like Libby, could care less about law and order or checks and balances or separation of powers or even the Constitution. Alberto only cares about covering for Bush's crimes. This, and this alone, can explain why Gonzales threw caution to the wind and acted so recklessly.

When Scooter Libby and Alberto Gonzales each put their hand upon the Bible and swore allegiance to the Constitution they were lying then too. Their allegiance has never been to the Constitution or the American people. These oh-so-loyal soldiers only care about protecting, at any cost, George W. Bush's corrupt and criminal administration.

Today's Abu Gonzales cynicism spectacular at the Senate hearing marked a new low. Here's what the freaking Attorney General of the United States said in opening remarks….

Mr. Gonzales began by expressing his pride in the 100,000 Justice Department employees. “I have worked with these fine men and women to keep our country safe from terrorists, our neighborhoods safe from violent crime, and our children safe from predators,” he said.

Mr. Gonzales said he wanted to focus on his department’s “No. 1 priority, keeping our country safe from terrorists, and the urgent need, quite frankly, for more help from Congress in this fight.” Specifically, he said, Congress should update the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to address the vast advances in telecommunications technology in recent years and ease restrictions on gathering intelligence. Link

Now, you ain't gonna' believe this stuff, but here is what George W. Bush said in Ocober 2001 when FISA laws were updated…..

The changes, effective today, will help counter a threat like no other our Nation has ever faced. . . .

We're dealing with terrorists who operate by highly sophisticated methods and technologies, some of which were not even available when our existing laws were written. The bill before me takes account of the new realities and dangers posed by modern terrorists. It will help law enforcement to identify, to dismantle, to disrupt, and to punish terrorists before they strike. . . .

Surveillance of communications is another essential tool to pursue and stop terrorists. The existing law was written in the era of rotary telephones. This new law I sign today will allow surveillance of all communications used by terrorists, including e-mails, the Internet, and cell phones. As of today, we'll be able to better meet the technological challenges posed by this proliferation of communications technology. . .Link

Think about what's going on here. The White House is in total disarray. No one cares any more. The well deserved criticism and political pressure is getting to them. How else could Gonzales NOT know what his own Dear Leader had already said about FISA laws being updated??

The Attorney General of the United States doesn't know that the FISA laws have already been updated in the Patriot Act of 2001?? Jesus, how can that even be? Or is it that Alberto does know, and he is simply taunting and mocking the Senate Committee?? Either way, what in the hell are we dealing with here? This is a sick group.

There are 16 months left of this sick and cynical group's slogans and terrorism scare tactics. I can't see how we get from here to there without somthing very bad happening. Pressure like the White House is experiencing right now, though self-made, could blow in the form of an attack on Iran or a huge diversion event of some kind that implicates al-Qaeda.

Gonzales' testimony today continues the Bush White House's stonewalling. Alberto works at the pleasure of the president. Bush's pleasure today was for his Attorney General to go to the Senate hearing, sit down, smile and then proceed to, in effect, flip the Democratic Senators the bird.

Not a good sign.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales might have a future in stand-up. That is, a future in stand-up AFTER serving a prison sentence that he so richly deserves for lawbreaking of mass proportions.

Gonzales just had to have been practicing his one liners today when he said the following…..

"I believe very strongly that there is no place for political considerations in the hiring of our career employees or in the administration of justice," he said. "As such, these allegations have been troubling to hear. From my perspective, there are two options available in light of these allegations. I would walk away or I could devote my time, effort and energy to fix the problems. Since I have never been one to quit, I decided that the best course of action was to remain here and fix the problems." Link

Can you even imagine Alberto saying something like this and being, like, all serious and stuff? Too funny.

The Reverend listened to and watched Gonzales, just weeks ago, lie repeatedly to Congress while answering questions from Senators and House members alike over many of "these allegations" that have been oh-so "troubling to hear". He lied so many times he couldn't keep his lies straight.

"…no place for political considerations in the hiring….." He's a jokester alright…..hold on while I wipe my eyes from the laughter…..okay, that's better…where was I? Oh yeah. That was the ONLY consideration his Justice department human resources hitmen(and hitwomen) used while hiring. Sure they asked other questions but the wink-wink, nod-nod, question was "will you be a loyal Bushie?"

And I'll give you one guess WHO made sure that this political consideration practice in hiring was fully implemented? There you are….Alberto himself. Now honestly, how funny can one Attorney General be?

Here's how funny….he's going to stick around and "fix the problems." Standing ovation material, that. The guy who carried out the bidding of George and Karl, the guy responsible for breaking the Justice Department, the guy who turned every department and agency he could into an extension of the Republican National Committee,…..is going to "fix" the mess.

Whether the questions he'll be asked tomorrow by Leahy and Schumer will be as chuckle producing as today's laughathon is yet to be seen. Gonzales will be appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

EML….Expect More Lies
