A Tea Party Divided

by The Reverend on March 16, 2010

in 2010 election,tea parties

I've had some fun with the Tea Party…..phenomenon, crazies, movement, astroturf, racist reactionaries….whatever you want to call it.

But can a Tea Party divided …..successfully brew Tea? If some Partiers don't want others to join the…Party…..because they aren't Partying hearty enough…or have the wrong Party costumes….or are not sufficiently supportive of the old way of Partying….you know, the Grand Old Party….won't the Partiers simply be dismissed by voters like they would a used Tea Bag?

Lots of questions.

It was only a matter of time before those rascally liberals started brewing up what Clapton's old Cream band would call "Strange."

Is there a fake tea party brewing in Nevada? Tea partiers who have declared Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) public enemy No. 1 sure seem to think so.

The Tea Party of Nevada formed an official third party in the Silver State, with candidate Jon Ashjian hoping to defeat Reid. But tea party groups that oppose becoming official third parties cried foul. Some conservatives have even accused Ashjian of being a front for Reid supporters who hope to dilute the Republican and tea party votes in the fall.

"fake tea party"……that's a good one in so many ways.

But on a more serious note….How long before Harry Reid starts presiding over the Senate dressed as a Lipton Tea Bag?

How long before the art of hanging Tea Bags from your hat gives way to Tea Bag Fights accompanied by a soundtrack entitled, "Everybody was Tea Bag Fighting"? (Kung Fu Fighting)

Twenty of Nevada's self-proclaimed "grassroots tea party groups" signed a statement denouncing the Tea Party of Nevada. The groups issued a blanket ban, saying the third party won't be invited to or welcome at any grassroots events in the state.

……

"It has recently come to our attention that an email is circulating referring to the newly established liberal-funded Tea Party of Nevada as TPN. This email repeatedly disparages the Tea Party group using the acronym TPN," Tea Party Nation organizers wrote members in an email, obtained by TPMDC as a member of the mailing list.

Excuse me while I go laugh my ass off.

Rev says, "the Tea Party…..phenomenon, crazies, movement, astroturf, racist reactionaries….whatever you want to call it."

LOL. You lefties always call it everything but what it actually is…Americans genuinely and legitimately alarmed about our out-of-control, massively in debt, fiscally irresponsible beyond belief, expansive, free market and private sector crushing, special interest coddling behemouth of a federal government.

As always, typical disinformation from the Reverend.

Also, the despicable, lying political hack Harry Reid isn't public enemy no. 1. He's only public enemy no. 2 or 3. Obama is no. 1, and Pelosi vies with Reid for the no. 2 spot.

    Rev,
In reponse to your comment on your last rant I do not absolve the lending industry for their greedy behaviour or actions that contributed to the collapse. However the Gov. required them to make bad loans and the politicans ignored the warnings from the regulators that their policies and the financial institutions actions were unstainable. Rev, both sides are to blame and it is WRONG for the politicans to "blame monger" when they were part of the problem. Big business is quilty of all things and the other side is automatically good approach is absurd

  • The Reverend

Mostly, I agree, angry……we disagree a bit about this…"However the Gov. required them to make bad loans and the politicans ignored the warnings from the regulators that their policies and the financial institutions actions were unstainable."

I do not believe that the feds required brokers to make bad loans. Sub-prime loans are not a bad idea. The selling was so fast and furious because of the availability of money at low interest rates (Greenspan)…mortgage brokers couldn't push the paper quickly enough, corners were cut, appraisals undone, gimmick loans pushed, customer income not verified. Bit it was the banksters who went wild by bundling and securitizing all those sub-prime loans, and then trading those securities behind closed doors. AIG sold insurance on the betting….. anyone could bet….you didn't have to own securities to bet against them.

No question that the feds ignored the warnings. When it comes to the financial industry, both political parties are equally guilty of the mess we're in. Absolutely.

The health insurance scam bill. Even if the legislation that has been proposed, passed in the senate, and to be voted in the house was a great deal for the American people, and needed, shouldn’t the bill be voted on in an open and honest manner, not deemed, rules skirted, and passed without a vote?

As I said even if this was a great bill, what is to prevent the corrupt individuals who want to avoid a vote, and break every law of procedure, to use this same tactic to pass legislation that is not good for the American people, superceding our rights, or freedoms without an actual vote. We no longer have a representative republic, but a parliamentary dictatorship.

I hate this bill, as do many Republicans and Democrats, yet it could be signed into law without a vote, that in and of itself should be grounds to vote out the leaders of the Dem party and any other corrupt individuals. Don’t sit by and let our freedom and the constitution be used for toilet paper.

  • frank

    Mr. Jeff,
Having been critical of you in the past, I have to agree with that this bill is a scam. I also agree that the Dems are corrupt. The problem is that the Repubs are as bad or worse.

    Mr. angry conserv,
Since the banksters continue to get what they want, don't you think that they also got what they wanted on mortgages?

    Mr. King,
I would bet that the vast majority of tea partiers were Reagan Democrats who consistently voted for the wedge issues the Republicans are so good at created and against their own interests. Since their fortunes have steadily declined while doing all that they can, they are asking what happened to the America they once knew. I believe that you are just projecting your own values on to them. In reality, they are people whose lack of knowledge left them vulnerable to manipulation then and now.

  • The Reverend

"they are people whose lack of knowledge left them vulnerable to manipulation then and now."

    True, that.

  • Da King

    frank,
I've yet to meet a liberal who understands what the Tea Party movement is about. You have not changed that perception.
