Congress In 2011…..?

gorilla

Ever see the person dressed up in a gorilla costume standing at an intersection holding a furniture or bedding store sign? Sure you have. Looks kind of stupid, gesturing wildly and so forth, to get drivers' attention. That gorilla is a good representation of today's Republicans.

Each day Republicans don their stupid-looking costumes, so to speak, and go about gesturing wildly and incoherently in attempts to draw attention to themselves. No substance, no ideas, no willingness to play nice with others in order to solve pesky problems……just stupid looking, acting and speaking primates scratching their hineys, throwing feces, making loud and screechy noises, doing anything to get the attention of the Village-media zookeepers, who will always throw the gorillas a bag full of peanuts in prime time coverage rewarding them for their amusing behavior.

Sometimes the amusing, dressed-up-as-gorillas-to-gain-attention Republicans behave so bizarrely, even the Village-media zookeepers get alarmed and turn away. Except for Rachel Maddow.

There are two GOP Senators, Jim DeMint (R-SC), Sam Brownback (R-KS) and at least one Congressional representative, Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) in the following video clip. Demonstrated in the clip is what American leadership will look like if the Sarah Palin-TeaBagger-Talibangelicals ever rise to power in the U.S.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Recent polling numbers show that 41% of people polled regard the TeaBaggers approvingly. 41%……yeah, it's hard to believe.

With corporately-compromised Democrats leaving potential Democratic voters despondent because of their refusal to get tough and do the will of the majority of Americans, it is conceivable that the gorilla-costumed Republican Party TeaBaggers could rise to snatch the majority in Congress.

Wouldn't it just be great if the scene in Rachel Maddow's video clip above could be played out every day on the floors of the House and Senate?

Just think of how amusing it would all be.

You are right, Reverend. The Dems have proven they suck pretty bad this past year and even the clowns in gorilla outfits have more on the ball than lemmings like Madcow.

Congrats Rev, In your never ending mission to demean those that do not embrace the progressive message you have come up with a new insult.. A gorilla, I like it.

It seems only fair that we assign an animal to represent the progressive movement as well. How about a herd of lemmings (with happy face stickers plastered all over their bodies) frantically on the move ignoring any thought of the consequences.

You have a point angry. I agree.

Democrats left the road back in the oh-so-great Clinton triangulation days. That's when Democrats moved corporate-friendly committee chairs in place to orchestrate more sellouts in any future legislation. Emmannuel is the main problem…he's a wired-tight Clintonian on roids. But Obama believes it too.

And larry….Maddow's program is the brightest and smartest thing on cable, she's a rising star. Josh Marshal and Glenn Greewald are drawing 1 million blog visits per day. The times are a-changing…..and it doesn't matter what corporate news does about any of it…..liberal blogs, the sharpest and smartest nest of discourse I've ever seen……. are driving the national discussion.

I mean, look at the gorillas on FOX…..my goodness, how freakin' embarassing.

Madow is the answer to the question – Is there a bigger dope than Keith Olbermann?

Gorilla suits? You must be confused. That would be the Black Caucus.

You actually hinted at the truth, but your hatred of corporate entities and the successful, require you to miss the truth, once again.

If as you say corporate america runs this nation, whose fault is that, who is the corrupt people that allow this? Why congress and politicians you fool, not corporations, but the politicians who sell their votes. They are the corruption that is killing this country, not corporations. Get a clue and you will begin to understand what we are saying.

Tell me just one idea the progressive democrats have had over the last 70 years that has actually accomplished what it set out to do? The Fed, come on they are a joke and we are broke, Welfare, nope, just created an enslaved class of dem voters, Medicare/caide, if they were so successful why would we need this travesty, Social Security, broke, and doesnt even reach the poverty level in payoffs. WWII, the great depression, vietnam, all lay at the feet of the dem party, and you want more of the same, that is lunacy at the highest level.

The sad part is when the Republicans had brief control of congress, they did not have the balls to roll back so many of the BS programs the progressives have saddled this country with, and now, an unelected bureaucracy has more power than anyone in this nation, the EPA, and all its corrupt marxist leaders now can tell congress, and you and I, what we can and can not do? Is that constitutional, that an unelected agency can make the laws?

Jeff…you are simply mistaken in your evaluation.

The good things about our society were brought about by progressives. Not conservatives. Some conservatives joined in to support the leadership of progressives…..but progressives have been responsible for the creation of virtually every social program of value in America's history.

While it's true that after the civil rights days of the 1960's Dixiecrat Democrats left the Democratic Party and sided with Republicans, it is also true that the modern Democratic Party, imperfect as it is, continues to stand for progressive ideals.

You simply don't like those ideals.

Social Security is the most popular social program we have. Americans don't want to give up on Medicare or Medicaid. FDIC, unemployment compensation, women's rights, minority rights, on and on….brought into being because of progressives.

Conservatives, in the modern era, have cut taxes for the wealthy, insisted on destructive deregulation…and started wars of choice.

There are no social programs of value, each and every one of them are a failure,
how is poverty, still around, why didnt progressive fix it, they had 60 yrs.
Womens and minority rights are guaranteed by the constitution, which was written by what would be termed conservatives today.

Dixie dems did not side with the republicans, they sided with continued racism and bigotry, ideas abhorrent to conservatives. The KKK was founded by democrats, not republicans, look it up.

Unemployment is paid for by the companies that employ people, fdic is bankrupt due to the progressive policies regarding home ownership, that forgot the most important point, people need to be able to pay for their loans, not have them handed to them without having their abilities to pay them back checked.

And Social Security is a joke, if it is so good why dont your progressive politicians signup and pay into it, and drop there congressional retirement?
No answer, then why cant we opt out of SS and take that money and invest it ourselves, because your progressives see OUR money as theirs to do with what THEY please.

As many of your Progressive buddies voted for the Iraq and Afghani wars, I guess you would not have fought Japan after Pearl Harbor either? But then my point was that the progressive, protectionism, caused the attack on Pearl Harbor. But the attacks on this nation by islam are not the fault of OUR nation, but the deranged ideas of religions fanaticism and hatred of anything but a 11th century mindset.

Progressives and their love of the soviets, Karl Marx, and all they stand for, are the cause of all the nations problems today, The UN, a bankrupt government, poverty, the cost of health care, our weakened military, all of it, and all for one reason, to gain and hold political control over the american people, not because they want to help anyone.

Preach on.

Have it your way….it's all just a control-freak problem. Freakin' Democrats….control freaks.

That's your viewpoint, Jeff. It's a prime example of the dual narrative issue that hampers discourse. Much of what you said has truth in it…..but much has falsehoods and misinterpretations and implied misinterpretations.

Wow, "dual narrative" and "discourse" in the same post, Reverend. Try to do "meme" in the next one.

Thanks for sharing your "kill the bill" viewpoint. Could you elaborate on why you oppose the bill?
