The TeaParty-Party

by The Reverend on November 3, 2009

in GOP, media

I must say something about the congessional race in New York's 23rd district. There's something twisted about what's happening in that race, expected now to be won by the outside-the-district, conservative party guy, Doug Hoffman. Steve Benen brings up some interesting points about the amount of attention that is being given to the New York contest

California's 10th and New York's 23rd are worth the same thing: a single vote in the U.S. House. Same kind of election, on the same day, with same value. One lacks a cast of wacky characters, but neither is necessarily more important than the other.

Democrat, John Garamendi, is expected to win California's 10th district House race.

I'm typing this at about 5 PM. I would wager that tonight's MSNBC election coverage will be all about the new Palin Tea Party Party comeback. That TeaParty Palin Party is being vicariously channeled through the far-right Hoffman win in a reliably Republican district in New York. Palin is Facebooking her way to fortune and fame….and you betcha' doin' what she can to help elect an extreme conservative, you know, "a real American", to the 23rd New York district.

Because Palin endorsed Hoffman, and Hoffman is going to win….enormous mountains will be made tonight out of very little molehills…..Tweety and his bunch will have Palin outpolling Obama before the night is out.

All that the Hoffman win says to me is that the Tea Partiers have taken over the Republican Party. You know….what-the-hell-ever. I can't see how Republicans gain back voters' confidence by moving further towards the extreme….but, hey, could be wrong.

One gets the sense that a Doug Hoffman victory in New York's 23rd will signal a national shift of great importance, but a Garamendi victory in California's 10th is a small blip on the radar. That doesn't make sense.

Hell no it doesn't…but one race has Palin, Dick Armey and the Freedom Works Tea Partiers….the other one doesn't.

Benen's words…"signal a national shift of great importance"….will surely be proven out by the Village media coverage tonight. The Hoffman win, as interpreted by the Villagers premier KneePadders this evening, will be sold as historic, game-changing, the end of the Democrats, and the best thing that could have ever, ever, ever, ever happened to the Republican Party. Hoffman's win will rank right up there with our divine Father Ronnie's singlehanded dismantling of the Berlin Wall, brick by brick.

I just hope that David The Fluffster Gregory and Chuck Todd will have information tonight from special anonymous sources about how Palin's new takeover of the Republican Party, apparent now in a Hoffman win, will be such a swell takeover, and how Republicans will now grow there party really, really big, and how more and more dissatisfied Americans will most likely embrace Sarah and the TeaPartiers totally incoherent message.

oh rev.,cheer up the repubs are NOT that popular-YOUR opponent OBAMA is a failure so far.Folks do not like marxists. The people will have their say and turn out the socialists. You can breath easier that the leftists are failing as we both know that America is not a liberal country,M M M. You can fool folks with your parity of a liberal but folks know that you are a Geoge Bush lover-don't try fooling with us.You really open your closet door with a Cheney poster it and admire the other screen saver of Karl Rove and look at it and smile.Cmon you are a tea party kind of person. You can sleep better knowing that the progressives will flub up their success and return the country to conservative values. Sleep well rev you rascal.Remember its not repubs success its the mess that progressives are.

Let's see..the Republicans had 8 years….and pretty much messed up on everything they touched. Democrats get elected and they have what?…..6-8 months to make some changes?

Must be New Rules…GOP'ers get elected and serve full terms. Democrats get elected and only get 6 months to turn Republican failures around.

Makes a lot of sense.

Note: Doug Hoffman, wingnut, lost to Democrat, Bill Owens in New York's 23rd district last night.

Maybe Sarah Barracuda and the TeaPartiers aren't the answer to what ails the Republican Party after all.

I also must note Ohio's passing of three statewide initiatives……unfortunate. Maine also passed their separate and unequal "Question 1", kicking gays permanently to the curb.

Rev, when you call a guy who stands for fiscal responsibility, like Hoffman, names like "wingnut," you are unintentionally exposing the person who is the actual nut. I'll leave it to you to figure out the rest.

Sara Palin was destined to fade away and her lasting legacy was to be triva question. It is the irrational and hate filled attacks that have allowed her to become a player. It defys logic why anyone would so fear someone they believe that is of zero intelligence, no experince and incapable of grasping the simple truths. Could it be she represents to progressives and the Obama media "the bitter….." that they so loath?

Rev, Since you didn't get back to me on the Kinston decison let me fill you in.
The Obama's Justice Departments ruling in Kinston is made for the mayoral race in Atlanta. A run off between a white woman and a black man.
1. blacks have lower voter registration than whites.
2. the turnout of black voters is lower than whites-this will be even more significant compared to the turnout for Obama.
3.After reveiwing these facts and others it is evident upon anaylsis of the "electoral choices of 'voters' that the black candidate would be the choice of the 'voters' of Atlanta. Yes sir, the peoples democracy in action. big Brother is not only wise but compassionate

The Reverend November 4, 2009 at 5:30 pm

Hoffman is a wingnut.

Sarah Palin clearly took advantage of her opportunity, I don't blame her for that. But to be the leader of some new extreme conservative Tea Party movement that hopes to capture a majority of voters…….is just silly wishful thinking. These folks are not credible….and I include the Tea Partiers.

angry….I disagree here…

" It is the irrational and hate filled attacks that have allowed her to become a player. It defys logic why anyone would so fear someone they believe that is of zero intelligence, no experince and incapable of grasping the simple truths."

Honestly, there haven't been any irrational and/or hate filled attacks on Sarah Palin. The media has covered her….and will continue to, but there's no hate involved. It's entertainment. Let me clear up another falsehood. Liberals, and Democrats do not fear Ms. Palin. Not in the freaking least. In fact, I'm pleased that her and Rush are the defacto GOP leaders. Fine with me.

Democrats do not fear Sarah Palin, at all. Why would Democrats fear Sarah Palin?

angry conserv November 4, 2009 at 9:01 pm

rev,
If you and your fellow Democrats engage in 24/7 character assassination for purely entertainment I am glad I am not a Democrat and your church of secularism is morally bankrupt

The Reverend November 5, 2009 at 4:45 pm

C'mon angry….FOX does it for the money too…you know cable news is political entertainment.

That wasn't the point, anyway. Liberals did not character assassinate Palin. Palin had quite the family story in tow. Palin is the one who offered up her family during the campaign….not the media. Liberals only reported what was true about her family. Liberals made an issue out of Troopergate, because the case demonstrated how petty and vindictive Sarah is. She's gone on to prove that she has a problem with being petty and vindictive….see: Levi Johnston.

AND….Palin had an opportunity handed to her, and she used it to advance her own personal financial interests. She couldn't govern anything, except for her own media-celebrity career. It's embarassing.

Hey, on this Kinston thing…..I'm just now reading about it. The first question I have is: why are ballots without party labels better? And then: what was the purpose, the goal, of those who pushed a successful referendum to remove party labels?

There's also something about potential candidates who do not have party sponsorship having to petition 600 signatures…or something.

Kinston is still on a Department of Justice "watch list" and has been since the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

I have to find out more. Been real busy.
