Enemies of the State

by The Reverend on October 3, 2009

in Barack Obama,Bush White House,iran,media,Rush Limbaugh,Winger-mindedness

america's new enemies

The 2016 Olympics went to Rio, Brazil……conservatives celebrate America's loss.

Consider the glee by America's new enemies…..

Beck: "Oh, it's so sweet" that Chicago's bid failed; "savor this moment."

Breitbart website: "It is kind of like the world community saying to President Obama, 'Not only no, but Hell No.' "

Limbaugh: For those "upset that I sound gleeful — I am. I don't deny it. I'm happy."

Drudge: "The ego has landed. World rejects Obama: Chicago out in first round."

RedState.com's Erickson: "World rejects Barack Obama. … Hahahahaha."

Soon after news broke that the International Olympic Committee had rejected Chicago's bid to host the 2016 Olympics, which President Obama had personally lobbied for, Weekly Standard blogger John McCormack published a celebratory post on the magazine's blog, titled "Chicago Loses! Chicago Loses!." McCormack wrote that "Cheers erupt at WEEKLY STANDARD world headquarters"

Malkin: "Goodbye, 'Yes We Can.' Hello, 'No, You Can't.' "

Honestly, I've never seen anything like this before. Cheering when America loses. Delighting in national defeat.

Take a moment to view the now-confirmed new enemies of America celebrating President Obama's failure to land the 2016 Olympic Games……share with me your feelings at what you see at the 1:20 mark…..

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

For those who would suggest that it's only the fake-news "entertainers", like the deranged Beck or the drug addict Rush who celebrated in America's loss……go read the Village's Jennifer Loven from the highly respected Associated Press.

Despite Obama's fabled charm and powers of persuasion, his in-person plea for Chicago to host the 2016 Summer Games fell flat. It was a hugely embarrassing defeat. And taxpayers shelled out probably $1 million or more for the president, his wife and others to fly to Copenhagen and back to woo members of the International Olympic Committee.
…..

The defeat could soon be a distant memory, and may never be more than a quixotic-blip trip. But if, for whatever reason, bigger losses start piling up in Obama's corner, his performance in this case could be regarded as emblematic.

That is Village-speak for Beck's, "Oh, it's so sweet."

To make matters worse, the Knee Padded Loven ( I've written about her before) goes on in this morning's article to tell readers that losing out on this very legitimate attempt by an American president lobbying for what surely would be a jobs and income producer for the United States of America during a very stingy recession, "recalls a strain of criticism that has been gaining ground on him."

What "strain of criticism"?

Un-f*cking-believably…."He's trying to do too much at once." " He doesn't have what it takes to close a deal." "He is a celebrity, for sure, but is that always a good thing?…some perceive Obama as arrogantly relying too much on his celebrity status and not enough on the nitty-gritty work of winning votes." "He's too casual with the use of his own time." "He's junior varsity-league, still learning on the job. Will Obama do as poorly predicting how health-care votes are leaning in Congress, and make similarly ill-fated strategic decisions?"

Truly…..this bizarre rendering by wingnuts and Villagers alike is a national WTF moment. We've entered brand new bizarro territory. A media so corrupt and rotted, so challenged by an intelligent and articulate president who doesn't spend most of his time on vacation choking on pretzels while watching footall, or pretending to clear brush in pathetically staged photo-op sessions for the rubes……is now, just like Limbaugh and Beck and the TeaBagging nuts…..celebrating American losses.

As Glenn Greenwald pointed out the other day…..in one f*cking day Obama made more progress with the troubling national leaders of Iran than George W. Bush made in 8 years of "axis-of-evil" threats. But no celebrations by KneePadding KnobPolishers over such monumental feats in U.S.-Iranian relations. Hardly a mention.

About a third of voting America, those who are ardent fans of Bill-o, Sean, Rush, Glenny and the rest of America's modern-day Our Gang Comedy Clowns, have now been born-again into full-fledged enemies of America. Outrageously, these new American enemies have blurred the lines between Obama failing and America failing….and are now rooting openly for both.

It didn't have to be this way.

Those who are now celebrating America's loss, America's defeat, used to screech about wearing lapel flag pins and placing one's hand over one's heart when singing the National Anthem. These same moronically stupid screechers used to raise oh-so-serious questions whether or not a black man with an odd name was "patriotic enough."

Now those same simple-minded, dumbasses are celebrating American defeat.

P.S. If you don't think the conservative rubes are being manipulated, take a look at how our nation's self-declared Enemy-in-Chief, Glenn Beck, produces all those crocodile tears….

  • angry conserv

What a circus. The mainstream media as usual went way overboard on the event and its significance. Also the right wing talk show hosts were ridculous in their crowing about Obama's failure and its implications thus in my opinion casting themselves a very negative light. The only lesson to be learned here is that the whole world may love Obama but at the end of the day it may get him a few style points but the members of the world community are going to act in what they feel is in their best interest(good or bad).

  • http://www.cleveland.com bzzzzp

Enemies of the State, what a load of nonsense. Enemy of the city is even a stretch. The people in Chicago only wanted the Olympics by a slight margin 47 to 45 margin.

If there is nothing to complain about, maybe you could blog about the weather. Or maybe you could blog about construction. You seem to be an expert at making mountains out of mole hills.

  • New Franklin

The 20-30% of America that follow rush and beck are quickly becoming politically irrelevent. The only problem with that is, once they realize their impotence, they will lash out violently against those they feel have defiled America. In their ignorance, and arrogance, they will try to destroy America to save it. And the idiots at faux noise are more than happy to lead the way.

  • The Reverend

    angry..yep

bzzzp…yeah, maybe I could blog about construction. But molehills are not my expertise, that's the TeaBaggers….bag.

New Franklin….I'm afraid you are correct. Thanks for the comment.

  • Roy

I do enjoy the Sunday morning funnies. The one embarrasses himself and his office by bowing and kissing the ring of an openly corrupt organization like the IOC and it's conservatives that have a problem with a, "smart, articulate president"? What is smart or articulate about giving a very crappy presentation? If he was smart he would have sent more hookers and cash because that's the only way the IOC responds favorably to anything. If he was smart he would have stayed out. Instead he staked his reputation on it and LOST. Miserably I might add.

I can't believe you wanted Chicago to win this bid. As a "liberal" who doesn't like big business I would thing you would be opposed to the city going into massive debt to host a giant corporate sporting event that could only possibly create temporary jobs.

  • Da King

The Reverend is racist by wanting a predominantly white country like America to get the Olympics over our brown-skinned southern neighbors. I'm so tired of the Rev's "American exceptionalist" attitude. Stop the imperialist oppression ! Support Rio !

  • The Reverend

Excuse me? Where did I say I wanted the Olympics to be held in the U.S? I could care less.

Those who would stand everything on it's head to avoid the obvious are doing the same here.

I wonder why ANY world city would want to host the games if what Roy says is correct. If Roy is correct, then shouldn't world representatives be lobbying to NOT host the games? What an ironic world some conservatives must live in.

Where's the immaculately-conceived Mittster when you need him, huh?

Of much more importance is Obama's success with Iran/U.S. diplomatic talks…..but the media-whores have no interest in serious matters like that. And conservatives who root now against America would only recognize true world leadership as a sign of weakness. Crazy times.

Extra laughs over this…."Instead he staked his reputation on it and LOST. Miserably I might add."

Now that's some funny Sunday stuff.

  • larry d.

Doesn't it ever creep you out when you rail against free speech and label folks "enemy of the state," Reverend? Or are you too far gone?

  • StraightOuttaPripyat

Who watches the Olympics? Boring. Just a big waste of money. Chicago is a terrible example of our country for others to see. I too, am glad they lost it.

  • Da King

    larry,
Especially when the Rev uses the "enemy of the state" label in regards to the Olympics. That's real far gone.

  • Da King

    Rev,
If you think the Iran situation is more important (and it is), perhaps that's what you should be posting about, instead of what Glenn Beck thinks about the Olympics. Just a suggestion.

And the media isn't ignoring the Iran situation either. That and Afghanistan have been the top subjects on the news lately. Add one more falsehood to your long list.

  • The Reverend

No, larry, it doesn't. Creep me out, that is. The new conservative fundamentalists in America are proving with each passing month that they are indeed, enemies of the state. Cheering for a new president to fail, cheering when America loses….next will come the cheering when something catastrophic happens. Fox nuts have already said the only thing that can save the country is another al-Qaeda strike inside the U.S.

    So, spare me the faux-outrage.

Straightoutta joins Rush and Glenn-boy…..he's glad America lost all those Olympic jobs.

King….yes, Iran is being talked about by the Villagers. But listen to the thrust of their "reporting." It's all about when to attack so-called secret nuclear facilities, how soon, what to attack with, etc. There's no honest accounting of what Obama's team has already accomplished in one day of adult diplomatic talks. It's no different from the run-up to Iraq. America is a warmongering nation and our media is a warmongering media.

  • larry d.

I didn't present any outrage, Reverend. No one lost out on the Olympics except for the corrupt Chicago machine that would have benefited from skimming contracts and such. I'm sure Obama's hearing it from them.

  • The Reverend

Maybe I overstated your response, larry. I'm not railing against free speech. I'm simply pointing out totally irresponsible speech….the kind of speech that would have got you hung, or shot, during the Founder's days. Now, apparently, that kind of speech is acceptable mainstream fodder.

Furthermore, I want the nuts to keep it up….please. Please, exercise all the free irresponsible speeech that can be mustered. Every day that this protected, yet traitorous speech, continues….is but another nail in the coffin of that Grand Old Dead Party. Thank you Rush, Glenn, Sean, Bill-o, National Review, and Fox. Opportunistic pricks to the end.

  • You lie!

One of your more pathetic posts, Rev. As a reader above points out, less than a majority of Chicagoans even wanted the Olympics.

Your head will explode in a fit of rage and frustration next November. A real backlash is brewing. Write that down. Your daily pronouncements are getting more ridiculous and foolish as Obama's sub-50 approval rating continues to drop and deficits continue to pile up (by the trillions) and jobs continue to vanish.

  • Da King

Rev says, "There's no honest accounting of what Obama's team has already accomplished in one day of adult diplomatic talks"

Au contraire. That has been covered extensively, though I haven't tuned into MSNBC for a week or so. Maybe they are busy putting down Rush and Beck instead, as you are.

I also hate to break it to you Rev, but the Bush administration conducted negotiations with Iran too.

I also hate to break this to you, but our talks with Iran haven't made ANY progress yet. See my latest post.

  • The Reverend

    Write this down…you lie.

The GOP will gain seats but not the majority.

Many conservatives want Obama to fail at everything…..even if America fails too. They weren't celebrating because Chicagoans didn't want the games…they were celebrating because Obama tried and lost. So did America.

Obama's approval ratings are at 56%, as of yesterday's polling….so you're wrong there too.

And…..the huge deficits and job losses began under Bush. That doesn't excuse Obama's performance….it puts it in perspective.

  • You lie!

Yeah. Bush spent too much money we don't have. Obama's spending more.

And we had job losses under Bush (as we have under every president, you simpleton). We have more under Obama.

    Perspective.

True, many conservatives want Obama to fail at everything. But then, many liberals wanted Bush to fail at everything. Perspective, again.

You really are a simple person. Incredibly simple.

  • The Reverend

I'm a simpleton? Maybe…..but you're the one who wrote that every president presides over job losses……not Clinton. So, there's that.

King often searches for equivalencies, like you do. Sounds plausible until one realizes that Bushes' tax cuts (enough to pay for a decade and a half of health care) were not vehemently opposed by Democrats…..many voted for it. All Democrats and most liberals supported Bush 100% after 9-11. So you are wildly off base. How are those GOP votes for Obama's agenda going?

If another attack (god forbid) happened under Obama (which some crazies want to happen) do you think Republicans and conservatives would stand behind the black president? I sure as hell don't. WorldNetDaily is calling for Obama's impeachment already.

The right, in their crazed state of mind, are dead wrong. Accept it.

Just so you know….I'm a very complex person, basically a contrarian who refuses to accept the, you know, simple, spoon-fed line from whore-media and corrupt politicians. Anyone who has read my material over time knows my take has proven to be the correct one more often than not. Not bragging, just sayin' it like it is. By all means, though…..feel free to call me whatever you would like.

  • You lie!

Nobody ever lost a job when Bill Clinton was president? Every president presides over job losses. Let's play your game – there are about 4 million less jobs in this country than when Obama took office. It's very likely we'll have less jobs November 2012 than we did January 2009. Guess what Republicans will say? See how it works?

Simple. It's by reading this blog that I find out what Olbermann had to say last night. If you're so "complex," (congratulations?) why must you point out how "complex" you are?

    Ha.

  • Da King

"complex" is a word that never occurred to me in connection with the Reverend.

Other words, however, like "illogical," "hyperpartisan," "hypocritical," "juvenile," "double standard," "biased," "fact-challenged," "anti-free speech," and "lacking self-awareness," along with many others, occur to me frequently as I read the Rev's posts. No offense intended. That's just usually what I'm thinking.

  • The Reverend

You lie called me a simpleton….you know, simple minded. I'm a lot of things, no doubt, but simple minded ain't one of them. So, that's why I included a brief glimpse into how my mind, you know, works. Contrary to popular conservative opinion, I happen to be very self-aware. Self-awareness, I realize, is not many conservatives' strong suit….or the personal attacks on me would not be so pronounced.

This is not personal for me….and though imperfect in carrying it out…..I try not to make conservative commenters, or King, the issue by endlessly calling them names. We are all just regular Americans without power…..though I fail at times….I, at least, try to save my ammunition for the powerful.

AND….A lot of things do not "occur" to King.
