Flinging Feces

by The Reverend on September 17, 2009

in Barack Obama,media

What is a country to do when a major teevee network is willing to do anything it can to discredit, to tear down, to disrupt a popular Democratic president's agenda? Should that teevee network simply be ignored? Does that network have any responsibility to the public any longer, or is it perfectly fine for that network to lie, propagandize, distort,….and even entrap perceived friends of Obama in personal "sting" operations?

As you probably know by now, last week two conservative activists set off a frenzy in the right-wing media by posting videos in which they posed as a pimp and a prostitute — complete with outlandish costumes — and asked employees of ACORN for advice on how to conceal the woman's source of income on their tax forms. ACORN employees in Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Brooklyn, fell for the sting, offering advice to the young couple on how to deceive the government.

ACORN fired the employees involved, but that hasn't stopped coverage of the scandal from mushrooming beyond Fox's Glenn Beck and quickly going mainstream.

I realize that our national political discourse, and I use that phrase lightly, is in tatters. It's been that way for awhile now. But just look at what Fox News did in this case….

It (ACORN) also has charged that the film-makers tried their scam on other ACORN offices, but after not getting the responses they hoped for, didn't post the videos.

Read those words again slowly….."after not getting the responses they hoped for."

Journalism, to Fox, is now simply a matter of wildly flinging "sting" sh*t against as many walls as possible…..record all that flinging…..dress up the sh*t stained area where the flung sh*t actually stuck…..call that stuck-sh*t stained area "breaking news"….run that "breaking news" on a 24/7 loop….and then call that sh*t stained area a huge national threat.

When the flinging of sh*t by Fox doesn't stick, or in other words, "after not getting the responses they hoped for", then, any recordings made of flung yet stickless sh*t are simply discarded and treated as if they never happened.

After flinging a sh*t sting operation at ACORN, the community organizing and voter registration group, and after discarding the videos where the sh*t didn't, you know, stick…..Fox, through the racist and deranged Glenn Beck, has been trumpeting the one sh*t sticking video
as evidence that black American community organizers have already overthrown the United States and are now out to get "whitey."

In the Village, flinging sh*t and oh-so-seriously wringing hands over any that sticks, is an industry. The Village knows that Fox is flinging sh*t about ACORN. The Village knows that Fox has been setting up sh*t-flinging-sting operations. Yet, the Village just can't help themselves when one of Fox's handfuls of flung sh*t sticks.

When a sh*t flinging enterprise, like Fox, gets the Village's attention over one stuck turd, this is what happens….

The Census Bureau announced late last week that it would stop using ACORN as one of the 80,000 unpaid groups it works with to promote the 2010 census.

On Monday, the Senate voted 83 to 7 to block the Department of Housing and Urban Development from giving federal housing money to ACORN.

ACORN is not like Goldman Sachs or AIG. ACORN just can't pay those big bribes to Congressional representatives. But, ACORN actually helps vulnerable inner-city Americans. And see….that's the problem. Obama is black and used to be a community organizer in Chicago. He worked with ACORN before he went to law school. You may recall last year's sh*t flinging episodes by the same anti-American teevee network against ACORN. ACORN, the brilliant Fox network declared, was trying to rig the election by registering voters, or something.

I'll tell you what I really think about all this sh*t flinging neo-McCarthyism……it stinks.

And, exactly what media outlet doesn't do exactly the same thing with their causes? It is the new American way. Rev, you are doing the same exact thing by focusing specifically on Fox. Advancing your agenda by slinging $hit. That is all your Blog is. I respect that. I run three websites that are less than favorable to Liberals. I do the same thing. Who doesn't? I guess we are running short on material when we have to expose something we are all guilty of. As for ACORN, they fit their logo. A bunch of Brown nuts.

  • Steve

Pure and simple ACORN was founded with good intentions and in some cases they've lost their way. It doesn't matter that they didn't always get the response they had hoped for at all offices. If they got the bad response at just 1 office, ACORN should clean up their act. And why the bashing of Beck (whom I personally can't stand)? Breitbart is the one behind the scammers, have you not paid attention? I did see an interview with Breitbart and the young lady (who is hot by the way) last night. He claimed they got these types of responses at all the ACORN offices they visited. So either ACORN is lying or the scammers are. And since you recently schooled us on how everyone lies…

  • Roy

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
    (deep breath)

    HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

It does make me laugh to see the ways you will bend over to protect anything this president has ever been involved with. Also Fox didn't do any of the investigatory work here. It was "conservative activists" (from your quote.)

You defending these Acorn scumbags is beyond sad.

  • The Reverend

jimmy makes the point I left out this morning. Beck and Fox have hissies and the spineless Democrats cave, thus helping the wingnuts demonize ACORN when ACORN's work helps the less fortunate in America.

Blackwater or Xe, if you prefer, can committ any violent crime they want….mass murder, whatever….and the spineless Democrats give them a new contract in Aghanistan.

Republicans have proven to be only an ace of spades away from being a criminal political party and Democrats do whatever they can to please those criminals. It's f*cking ridiculous.

George Carlin was right. It's a freak show.

  • The Reverend

When was it, exactly, that secret-camera footage could be used against you? Is this how it's going to be now? Come into a place, any place, and bring a secret camera and see who you can entrap….tape you without your knowledge or approval….and then use the tape to demonize you?

Not law enforcement, mind you…..biased media members.

  • Quidpro

    Reverand,

If you have a point to make, it would be better if you provided a reasoned argument to support it. That you resort to scatalogical invective merely illustrates that you have nothing to say beyond the brute fact that you are mad at Fox for publishing the truth about ACORN. How pathetic.

  • http://keelerreport.blogspot.com/ Ben Keeler

who gives a shit. ACORN is out to help democrats. conservatives are free to try and expose them and their tactics. thats politics. i hope there are more videos.

people are allowed to "boycott" glenn beck for disagreeing with what he said….but he should probably just accept that. right.? And whoever made the comment was right, FOX didnt do the investigative work, they just aired it. If they didnt, obviously none of the networks would.

"What is a country to do when a major teevee network is willing to do anything it can to discredit, to tear down, to disrupt a popular Democratic president's agenda? "……..could be re-written as "What is a country to do when all but one major teevee networks are willing to do anything it can to discredit, to tear down, to disrupt a Republican president's agenda?" and be applicable to the last few years……though you would never see it that way cause in your eyes the media was always with Bush, which is obviously laughable to most.

  • larry d.

You have to wonder if during his days as an ACORN trainer, Obama fleshed out the legal aspects of securing bank loans and avoiding taxes in the child prostitution/human slavery industry? As a brilliant attorney, he may have even authored the organization's guidelines.

  • The Reverend

No wondering about it, larry, 9 1/2 out of 10 TeaBaggers agree that Obama not only wrote ALL of ACORN's legal guidelines but he PERSONALLY instructed the ACORN woman in the Fox video on how to give advice to skirt the law in order to start a child prostituition ring.

Obama is probably running a child prostitution ring out of the White House himself, because that's just what a black president would do. Right? Besides eating fried chicken and watermelon daily, that is.

Racists are ignorant. Do the math.

  • larry d.

Oh the race card. How refreshing.

  • The Reverend

That's the same response I heard back in the 60's….you know, when civil rights legislation was passed. Opponents of giving blacks equal rights often, as larry does today, stated that pro-equal rights Americans were, you know, playing the race card.

Yeah, it was refreshing back then, too.

  • Da King

The Senate and House have both voted to cut off ACORN'S federal funds.

ACORN has been kicked off the Census project.

ACORN has been indicted and/or investigated in at least a dozen states for voter registration fraud, and now I hear they may soon be out of the voter registration business.

Multiple ACORN offices have been seen on videotape trying to help a pimp and a prostitute setup a brothel for underage girls from El Salvador, and avoid taxes at the same time.

ACORN has broken into and taken over houses they don't own, another crime.

ACORN is run out of a two-story building in Louisiana that is home to some 270 different corporations (shadowy and untrackable versions of ACORN).

And the Reverend's response to all this is to blame Glenn Beck. LOL. Pathetic. It just can't get any weaker.

  • larry d.

I fail to see any parallel, Reverend. You do folks like MLK and Rosa Parks a grave injustice by trying to use them for cheap and dishonest partisan points. In the long run, the fight against real discrimination and for racial equality will suffer because of this kind of willfully dishonest use of the race card.

  • The Reverend

larry, bear with me here. You're the guy who stood up for the big pharma guys the other day. Pfizer was convicted of fraud and fined $2 billion, but no prison time for anyone. That big pharma fraud guys wouldn't go to jail didn't seem to bother you all that much….you know, prosecutor's discretion and all that.

But you're oh-so-quick in condemning whatever piddly criminal complaints that are coming down on a community organizing group. Some would call that a double standard. Unless you can prove otherwise, ACORN has never been charged with voter fraud, or any crime for that matter.

  • averagejoe5

    Piddly?

  • larry d.

What's "big pharma" have to do with anything? I didn't stand up for them in any case, I noted that prosecutors sometimes find difficulties in tracing responsibility in those huge corporations.

I wouldn't call the ACORN complaints piddly, however. They were attempting to aid underage prostitution and by extension probably a modern day slave trade that victimizes minorities. You'd rather it not be looked into because they support Obama so I'd have to say your bogus use of the race card at every turn is a real joke.

  • The Reverend

"prosecutors sometimes find difficulties in tracing responsibility in those huge corporations" Hogwash. You don't get fined $2 billion without someone tracing responsibility.

The ACORN thing was a sting by an amateur nobody who hired actors. You must be joking. Tell me you're joking.

  • Roy

ACORN has been charged with voter fraud SEVERAL TIMES. Maybe you should stop lying to protect these scumbags.

    Google is your friend:

  • larry d.

What would I be joking about, Reverend? Who cares who caught them on tape? I didn't say they should be charged with promoting prostitution, just that that's what they were doing. Very bad for the inner city, from an organization that's supposed to be improving the plight of poor folks and inner cities.

Your race card should be taken away as it's clear you have no regard for the plight of poor people in inner cities. What a joke.

  • Da King

Let's not forget that ACORN submitted 400,000 voter registration forms that were rejected during the 2008 elections either, or that their finances as a non-profit can't be tracked, or that their claim to non-partisanship is a joke, or that several former employees are calling ACORN utterly corrupt, in addition to ACORN abetting prostitution on those videos.

President Obama has called for an investigation into ACORN, Congress has cut ACORN off, and the Reverend thinks it's all piddly. That only says something about the Reverend, and it's not something good.

  • The Reverend

    Piddly…..and pathetic.

It's like beating up the lame and the halt.

  • larry d.

Just say "I give up and was wrong," Reverend. It will help you retain just a little credibility for another day.

  • The Reverend

Wrong about what? Am I wrong that the bozo actors were trying to entrap ACORN employees? Am I wrong when I say that the bozos went to numerous ACORN offices in many cities, were tossed out at some, cops called later on others…as they mounted some wild-ass fishing expedition?

Or, are you wrong when you take the ACORN employee's every word as seriously intended when she could clearly see the moronic nature of the nuts she was dealing with? And what law did the ACORN employee violate, exactly? Freedom of speech?

It ain't my credibility that's on the line.

This was clearly, like the TeaBagger Orgies, a staged event….like Mission Accomplished. No credibility in any of it…..just a continuation of "creating reality" for the shallow conservative rubes.

I knew that the sceeching meemie conservatives, coupled with Pravda media, would make Obama's presidency as difficult as possible. That was easy to see coming. But I gotta' say…..the depth of the moronic, buffoonery laid out before us in 8 months…..was even beyond my imagination. The right has really, truly become bizarro territory.

  • larry d.

Hey if you think child prostitution, human smuggling and slavery are cool, who am I to argue? It's probably how they do things in those more civilized countries you always talk about.

  • The Reverend

Why be so silly? You know that child prostitution, etc…..is not the issue here. The ACORN employee, since fired, was not a lawyer giving authentic legal advice…and as I said before….you don't know whether the fired ACORN employee was just playing along, you don't.

  • Da King

Maybe ACORN can merge with NAMBLA to form a new organization that specializes in assisting poor children.

  • larry d.

Good point, King–I'm sure NAMBLA "plays along," too.

  • Da King

    Rev,
Not to belabor the obvious, but if the fired ACORN employees were "just playing along," they would have called the police, and they WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN FIRED. They weren't playing along, they were helping.

  • Da King

Even ACORN's CIO, Bertha Lewis, condemned the actions of those employees. Why can't you ?
