Crazy sh*t…. The extremists among conservatives in America are pegging the radical meter by threatening to take their kids out of public school the day President Obama is scheduled to speak via teevee to all school children. Obama, say the extremists, is seeking to indoctrinate students with……well…I have no idea…but it's scary and sneaky.
On September 8, in what the Department of Education is touting as a "historic" speech, President Obama will be talking directly to students across the U.S., live on the White House website. But some parents and conservatives are blasting the president, calling the speech an excuse to brainwash American children.
It must have been okay when Bush, the Elder, did it.
Uncle Ronnie and the trickle down indoctrination he did to high school students in North Carolina was no cause for conservative boycotting.
And, of course, who could ever forget this…..
That would be Commander Guy indoctrinating those kids down in Florida with the My Pet Goat read-along. Conservative parents didn't object.
So, it's not that this is about ANY president speaking to school children. This is president-specific. This is about Obama, personally. This has the feel of deep resentment towards Obama because Obama is Obama. This smells just like what the woman asked McCain during the campaign about Obama not being one of us, an Arab, she was told….McCain quickly corrected her.
However, isn't this "we don't want Obama talking to our children" just part of a pattern we've witnessed from conservatives for a good while now. 'Obama is a Muslim, he's not one of us. Obama has no birth certificate, he is not one of us. Obama wants to kill grandma, he's not like us. Obama pals around with terrorists, he's our enemy. Obama wants to indoctrinate our children until our children's eyes turn flourescent red with communist madness, because we don't know much, but we know Obama is not one of us.'
How should this pattern be evaluated? Seems like part of a strategy to me. Anyone else see it that way?
How can this strategy to marginalize and demonize Obama, so much so that parents behave despicably enough to insist Obama cannot talk to their children, help the nation? What's wrong with conservatives? Do they honestly want to tear the country apart with their pseudo-bully and buffoonishly ignorant behavior? Is it their purpose now only to offend as abrasively as they can?
You must see this from a New Jersey "townhall". You must see it to believe it. The woman speaking in the video is in a wheelchair. Listen to the crowd of buster-upper conservatives….
This kind of rudeness and hatefulness is not without conservative precedence, of course.. Rush Limbaugh's mockery of Parkinson victim, Michael J. Fox, blazed the trail for this type of junior-high incivility.
The question remains, what in the hell is wrong with conservatives in America today? How can talk of making medical care for all Americans better….lead these folks to act THIS crazy. I understand that people disagree about stuff in America…and always will……but throwing basic humanity out the door and acting all hateful like a lynch mob OVER HEALTH CARE REFORM,…. having the eagerness to shout down a crippled-up person in a wheelchair OVER HEALTH CARE REFORM, displaying personal contempt and hatred towards an 8-month-in-office new president by refusing to allow your children to attend school the day he is televised into classrooms to talk about EDUCATION…..I don't get it. Any of it.
And so I ask with all sincerity…..What in the unholiness of hell is wrong with today's conservatives?

This sh*t has to be staged, on both sides. I have seen want ads for both sides for protesters and poll takers on the internet and even in the PD. I would be willing to say that most of those people have no idea what they are talking about or protesting. They are lemmings fueled again by lies and half truths of our politicians. They won't even listen to reason.
I must admit that I am not a fan of Obama or his brand of Chicago politics. However, this panic is straight out absurd. The man won the election fair and square. The man is the President of the United States. He wants to give school children a message about the importance of education. There are kids in this world that are very inspired by the achievements of Obama. They need to hear him say that staying in school and forging ahead can help you become anything that you set your mind to. We all complain and gripe about kids not having decent role models, but then when the President wants to pass along a message to our kids, we gripe about that, as well. How about we wait and see what the message is, before we start sending the wrong signals to our children. One message from the President is going to have our kids wearing Che berets and eating Soylent Green. If the message is poltically charged(which it won't be), then we can start complaining and telling the schools to never do it again. When I was in school, many years ago, I was assigned to go home and listen to the State of the Union addresses by old Ronnie and report back on what I heard. This is nothing new. We just happen to have satellite technology now. For chrissakes, people. Get a grip.
I believe the ones speaking out are trying to appeal to the racists who hate Obama and the group of people who are actually scared of him because they have some wacky idea he a extremist radical Muslim who wasn't born in this country. Gosh what do they think he will say? If he says anything political he'd be foolish and some how I think they will twist his words even if all he says is eat your peas and study hard. And what the heck is wrong with the question what can you do to help the President? They are projecting their own fear. I think it is time to say ignore these people, they are mentally ill.

david5300 is what's wrong with conservatives in America, but more generally, people in America. Most people in America (conservatives as well as liberals) are the following: lazy, ignorant, hateful, stubborn, greedy, closed minded and shallow. Not sure that that's any different now than it was 50 years ago. But it seems to me that there are a lot more of those types on the right side of the room than the left.

So maybe not MOST of the people are those things, I might have gotten carried away. But far too many are. Can we say 35%? I'd say that's the percentage of people I meet that fit into those criteria. Sometimes it feels like that number is much higher!
And I suppose 50 years ago the laziness wasn't as much of a problem. I think that's gotten worse as we've become more affluent and material-minded as a nation (even the poor have nicer thing snow than half a century ago).
I'm trying to think of something more lazy and ignorant than making up statistics about how lazy and ignorant everyone who disagrees with me is.
My suggestion? One liners.

Radicalized states will pass resolutions denying Obama authority. 6 states, so far, have boycotted Obama's speech to children, for Christ's sake. The handwriting is on the wall. Social violence is going to make a comeback in America. I've seen that movie and I gave it a thumb's down.

Rev, The event has already been planned and you pulled the trigger when you voted in a guy that is in the pocket of George Soros. You knew that Soros was a person that goes into countries and fianaces the socialist/labor party to fight against the conservative governments(a smoke and mirrors tactic) and then finances the the socialist parties weaponry. You chose to ignor this. How many countries has he done this in? He financed Obama's campaign. Obama owes him. Obama is right on schedule..

Rev would you consider influencing legislation and the SEC with some of his hedgefund buddies a problem. Believe what you wish. He speaks out about it in his interviews and has no qualms. He does influence the Dem party Rev. And Obama owes him big for getting him elected. Think what you will..

but…one of the items on Obama's agenda was for the kids to write down how the kids could help Obama. That item was subsequently removed from the agenda.

As a business person I admire Soros. As a person that hates America so much that he wants to help collapse it's system make me dispise him. This is not my point of view…those are his words. George Soros said the one of the main reasons the economy collapsed this time was because congress didnt' step in to avert the disaster this time like they have in the past. They let oil get out of control housing to crash etc. This created enough pain to put Obama over the top with the lemmings that wouldn't have normally voted for him. No one said he did it illegally even though they sent him to jail for a spell because he recieved inside info from German Banks and he wasn't allowed to trade there anymore. I know all about it, I trade currencies and started doing it because of his success. He is a great if not the greatest trader of all time, I won't dispute that. Oh yes he did Rev, in 2007 when the new Dem congress gave him free reign by passing tax legislation just for him. He made $2.7Billion in personal income that quarter. The whole year before his income was $666M. (Salary info from WSJ) The same amount Bush was allowed to put into the banks to help prop them up. He did it by short selling thier stocks. But go ahead and protect him.
I seem to recall Soros the patriot doing some short selling following 9/11 too, after the President implored everyone not to attempt to profit from the tragedy.
