It's stupid people like you that makes the laws of the founders disappear. It is every americans right to keep and bear arms. just because you dont like it doesnt mean its bad or wrong. I did'nt hear anything about that guy shooting anyone,did you? Time is coming when you'll be glad to have an armed person near you to help in a bad situation. It is the law and our right to open carry weapons. Only the troublemakers hide there guns.

"Incentivizing them"……..that reminds me of the state representative who said that government sponsored meals for children, who were, like, hungry, …..disincentivized those children from going out and getting a job so they could eat. I mean…WTF?

Yes, there will always be some who will exploit kindness and generosity. But that's no reason to eliminate a nation's compassion for it's people. We're better than that…..at least, I think we are.

I should also mention that those who supported TARP and Obama's stimulus package (overwhelmingly Democrats) have planted themselves firmly IN FAVOR of corporate subsidies.

Food stamps, Medicaid, WIC, nearly free housing, HEAP, etc. NOTHING is demanded in return. The Clinton/GOP welfare reform was a positive step (wrongly resisted by liberals), but it still didn't solve the problem.

It's not "bashing the poor," Rev. It really gets me po'ed when people put it in those terms. It's about incentivizing them to become something other than poor and give them the ability to stand on their own. It's about the betterment of the individual, as well as society as a whole. Obviously, I except the physically and mentally disabled from that. We should take care of them.

I'd also like to end corporate subsidies. It's not an either/or proposition.

First…it's not true that government does not demand anything from those who receive benefits. That was what Welfare to Work, under Clinton was all about.

Second…it just seems to me that there's some sour grapes over people getting something that others don't. Government hands out huge corporate subsidies….and what do we get in return? Not much, if anything.

Third….it's not appealing to bash the vulnerable and the poor. Why do conservatives continue to do it?

I believe what's being said is that we shouldn't have a system that allows people to game the system and collect money indefinitely for doing nothing.
I've wondered about this myself. When society pays for able-bodied people's food, housing, utilities, and health care, and demands nothing in return, allowing them to live without working or contributing, usually based upon those people spitting out a couple kids, how can we be the least bit surprised when society deteriorates as a result ? Compassion is one thing. Enabling is another.

At least the corporations provide jobs and taxpaying employees. We didn't give them the money, they have to pay us back. Hoodrats just work on new ways to work the system.

Well, Pyro…then I suggest you push for a new Hyde-type amendment granting all oh-so-conscientious conservatives from having their tax dollars used for welfare.

My question to you would be…..since you easily take offense at any "hood roaches", as you call them, receiving any help paid for with tax dollars….is your conscience that sensitive about the hundreds of billions of tax dollars handed over to "needy" international corporations? Does that bother you at all?

Rev, What about the welfare hood roaches and white trash that don't want to work? Can we just euthanize them? Sterilize them? Because, they will never be equitable, pull their own weight and I would rather not support them.
