The profound wisdom of Duncan Black, aka, Atrios….

"Nobody could've predicted that electing a black man president would drive this country completely f*cking insane."

The milder, less abrasive thoughtfulness of today's AB Journal editorialist….

"The furor at town-hall meetings has been revealing. It has exposed a disturbing depth of ignorance regarding the national structure of health care."

Are the swastikas, the shouting, the rudeness, the guns, the bitter signs, and all the rest of the nonsense surrounding health care reform "town halls"….. evidence of ignorance….or are they evidence of bigotry?

There are those who would argue that the staged and orchestrated brutishness we're all witnessing in and around the health care reform "town hall" meetings is a result of legitimate anger, rage even. I heard Wall Street Journal writer, Stephen Moore, say as much on Tweety's show last night. Moore said that liberals were not appreciating the depth and breadth of the rage out there in the grassroots over the "direction" in which Obama and the Democrats were taking the country.

The town hall bust-ups are simply a retread of the rage-filled Tea Party "protests"….

From The Reverend's April 15th, 2009 blog post….

'…now Cavuto (of Fox) is telling me the Sacramento protestors are protesting a state tax increase. "The rage is palpable and the rage is everywhere." Now it's rage.'

On April 8, 2009, I included a link to photos of several Tea Parties. I think it's helpful for today's discussions about town hall bust-ups to review those pictures.

This, from a 2/27/09 Cleveland Tea Party, is also indicative of what the "rage", the "passion" is all about….

obama is bad man

But the alleged rage started back during the presidential campaign. That "rage", or bigotry, (you decide), was in full flower especially at Sarah Palin rallies last fall. Take a look….from Strongsville, Ohio….

See the theme here? The "rage" is not over government spending….or tax rates…..or deficits….or any of the flimsy excuses laid down by oh-so-serious conservatives and libertarians.

The rage, the passion has been caused by the man, now the president, Barack Obama. He is a black man. He is a Democrat. And that's what the bust-ups of health reform town halls are all about.

It won't matter what the issue, policy or topic is……the rage we've seen from before the election, the rage we see at the Tea Parties, and the rage we see at the town hall bust-ups…..will be repeated over and over BECAUSE…..America elected a black Democratic president.

It really ain't that complicated.

I give up. Where was the racism in those clips ? Except in your imagination, of course.

And that interviewer trying unsuccessfully to get someone, anyone to say Obama is a terrorist was pathetic, just like your post, Rev.

I have noticed that in your posts about health care reform, the thing you don't talk about is…health care reform. You just call Obama's opposition racists instead. The only thing you have illustrated here is the depths of your own obsession.

Da King August 12, 2009 at 9:45 am

Are you part of a hate group ? It sounds more and more like you are.

larry d. August 12, 2009 at 9:55 am

The race card is the only argument proponents have anymore, King.

Americans are on to the bogus stats and fibs and smell a rat, which is why they are angry, Reverend. It's too bad because Americans almost universally believe some kind of reform is in order. It's become painfully obvious that Obama and this group of democrats cannot be trusted to do it.

Steve August 12, 2009 at 10:04 am

Rev you are totally off base on this one. It has nothing to do with race, everything to do with Americans feeling like this is being jammed down their throats. The great communicator BHO failed to do what he does best, that is explain why this is needed and what it is going to do. I was watching Glen Beck the other day and every reason he gave as to why the plan should not go forward I took as reasons it should. Pelosi and Reid hijacked the trust in BHO almost from day 1, now he needs to take a breath and explain his plan. I have not personally read a lot of the 1,000 pages, I just skimmed through parts. I did like the part that included $$ to send the underprivaleged to college, now that is what I call a "Health Care Plan".

mary August 12, 2009 at 12:50 pm

Steve — you mean the $$ to NURSING school programs.

averagejoe5 August 12, 2009 at 1:37 pm

Mary where is that in the bill? They already have a nursing school education program in place. I am taking an LPN course that is costing about $12G's it's in Cleveland. A similar course in Kent that costs almost $20G is being take by a girl I know that has 3 babies by 3 daddies and lives in a place called Silvermeadows in Kent. First she gets paid to live there. She paid $1.40 for the course(yes one dollar and forty cents, she gets free day care and they gave her a stipend to get transportation and insurance. She purchased an older van. $3500. What more could they need? Why is there an allowance in this bill for that.

I am all for higher education for the underprivileged. I am glad this girl has an opprotunity to make a great life for herself. However if she gets pregnant and has to quit. The school keeps the cash and she keeps the car. These folks need to be held responsible and accountable for using this education we pay for.

The Reverend August 12, 2009 at 1:48 pm

Steve says the "rage" has….

"..everything to do with Americans feeling like this (health care reform) is being jammed down their throats."

Was that what caused the "rage" before Obama was elected? How so?

Was that what caused the hateful bitterness expressed in the April Tea Parties?

Was that what caused the outrageouness seen in the "birther" group?

Is that what causes half of the southern population to believe today that Obama is not a U.S. citizen?

Is all of that because people feel like "this is being jammed down their throats?"

The Reverend August 12, 2009 at 1:57 pm

King…..I've made it clear where I stand on the issue of health care reform.

The two most valuable components of reform are government bulk discount purchasing rights for pharmaceuticals……and a public option, Medicare-like, insurance provision.

Obama, according to what I've read, has already made a deal with Big Pharma….a handshake agreement…..that they would lower their prices by $80 billion over a period of time….and I would bet what Big Pharma was promised was no government bulk purchase discount power.

On the public option, the House has included it, so far, but not the Senate…..and once again, I would bet that the finished product will not include it.

So all that will be left is a windfall for Big Medical, which will drive costs even higher. All the bill will consist of will be health insurance reform of the weak-tea variety.

Not really worth the effort…..unless you are a health insurance or pharma CEO.

Steve August 12, 2009 at 2:07 pm

Rev, at least if you are going to quote me do it right, I went back and re-read what I wrote. Interesting that I could not even find where I used the word rage ( perhaps YOU are Pelosi in sheeps clothing). As for your many questions I must of had blinders on before BHO was elected because I only saw love not rage. As for the birthers I'm not one so I can't answer for that. Having lived for a few years in N.C. you shouldn't be surprised about the half of southern population comment, my kids moved back north thinking the civil war is really known as "the war of northern aggression" and I can take you to many placea that still fly the stars and bars. As for the tea parties to that one I can speak because I agree. After all my vote for BHO and his "no more pork" and "close gitmo" was rally worth it. Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice? Ain't gonna happen.

Mary, I just skimmed through but I think it was around page 600 that had dollars for low income area kids to get health care degrees. The idea being they will go back to where they came to practice, helping with a shortage.

mary August 12, 2009 at 2:20 pm

Average — it is in several places. I downloaded the bill and then did a search in the document for "college" and it came up. I am not saying I agree that it should be part of the Health Reform Bill but Steve did not mention that it was particularly for training in a health related field. To me it is not logical to have it in a Health Reform Bill but rather in an education bill but these darn politicians stick everything they can into every place they can and I agree that people need to be held accountable for the education they receive that someone else pays for. Lets hope she makes something of herself and gets a good job so her taxes can contribute to someone else's subsidized education. On a side note I lived in "a place called Silvermeadows" in Kent many many years ago. Back then it was not subsidized housing but it was cheap housing and I paid for it all by myself. It was not the greatest place to live even back then.

frank August 12, 2009 at 3:32 pm

Rev,
Ignorance or racism? I'd say primarily ignorance. I'm sure there is some racism, but as always, racism is a subset of ignorance. In 1968, Nixon used the Southern strategy to get elected. Many claim that he appealed to southern racists, but I think he tapped into poor white folks feeling that they were being left behind. Today, the lower classes are still being left behind. They've had their jobs and their paths to advancement destroyed under the "free" trade paradigm and neither party is going to address their problems. The problem is that if a person relies on the MSM for their information, they will not learn the truth, and therefore be ripe for manipulation by those who profit from their ignorance.

mary August 12, 2009 at 4:32 pm

I have mixed feelings on subsidizing the education. I can name one wild success and one wild failure. My Aunt was in a FL nursing home for 7 years before she died. Her favorite aide there started shortly after my Aunt was admitted — Single mother, black with a high school diploma. She got a grant, got her RN, is now a hospice nurse and next spring will graduate as a Nurse Practitioner. She accomplished all that in 8 years while raising her family — still single but with a second child — and working with no personal family within 1000 miles of where she lives in FL. She also did the laundry of 10 residents of the nursing home for extra cash — 2 residents each week night. She washed and folded clothes every night for $3.50 per resident. I won't comment on the wild failure because she lives in the Akron area. I do not know how you identify and supply grants to those who will really use that grant to better themselves.

Fred August 12, 2009 at 5:40 pm

Whites better get used to being a minority……and fast. America is becoming increasingly "dark". For me, there is a hint of racial prejudice in the clip. Bottom line in this video is these people are not being truthful. Dellusional? Ignorant? Honest? These people wouldn`t know facts or truth if it hit them in the face! And, I honestly want to know from any blooger if they really think Palin is the answer.

The blind truth August 12, 2009 at 6:33 pm

First of all, Rev. Obama is not black. I recently observed a bumper sticker on a trip to Michigan that read "Obama: America's first half-white President". Scientifically, that sticker is more accurate than calling him black. If Obama were on the other side of the fence and were in the position of Ken Blackwell, blacks would call him a "Tom" or a "sellout" and would not recognize him as being black. You see, they tend to embrace whatever it is that benefits them on that particular day.

Onto the subject of the healthcare issue. I don't mind a Universal healthcare program for the poor. No problem. However, I simply do not want to participate in it, and do not want to contribute to it. Frankly, I would rather pay for abortions and forced sterilization than I would to cover someone's little bastard kid. When and if this program passes, you will see a profound increase in the underground economy in this country. Actually, it has already started.

PyroclasticFlow August 12, 2009 at 6:41 pm

Fred,

You just made a profound statement. The nation is getting darker. Exdactly. And with that, naturally, will come lack of education, laziness, joblessness, homelessness, etc. Since there will be less working class to pay for the new entitlement class, who will come up with this healthcare money? I have recently decided to do nothing to help advance the other side's cause, and all I can to promote my OWN self interests. Call it selfish. I call it self-preservation.

averagejoe5 August 12, 2009 at 6:53 pm

Mary, Silvermeadows is a fairly nice neighborhood. It is subsidized housing and is getting a thuggish reputation.
I can name more failures and actual scammers than successes in subsidized education. I think because they aren't held accountable. I mentioned my cousin on here before that has a certificate in 5 areas and almost has an associate degree. She raised 4 kids on welfare and had many opportunities to work including me trying to open a store for her and her friends doing nails. Now that her last child is going off to the military she is trying to get on disability (what ever, eyes rolling). I love hearing stories about people like your aunts aide. That is great.

averagejoe5 August 12, 2009 at 7:02 pm

Fred, I think Palen and people with her desire and love for America, freedom and liberty is exactly what we need in our country. The ones in congress aren't the ones we need. Obama I think has good intentions but he is not running the country. He is a mouthpiece for people like George Soros, Al Gore, et al. If he were to really take over I think he would have alot in common with Sarah Palen. Are you saying she isn't qualified because she is a white woman? What's sad is that Obama is being led by the good old boy white network. The ones who are actually keeping people of varying degrees of darkness down, for votes. It is sad.

Fred August 12, 2009 at 8:44 pm

I`m saying exactly that……Palin is not experienced enough, not smart enough, not savy enough, ectra. I`m convinced that she loves America deeply, but that doesn`t mean she is qualified to run the country. Whether people like it or not Obama is extremely intelligent. Editor of the Harvard Review, Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago, social activist, U.S. Senator, and more. And, yes, Obama is influenced by white Americans because the vast majority of government leaders are white men. Where did you get the idea that I inferred that Palin is not qualified because she is white? It DOES NOT have anything to do with race or sex!!! PALIN IS NOT QUALIFIED……Period!

mary August 12, 2009 at 9:01 pm

Average I went to FL and visited my Aunt for a week 4-5 times a year the whole time she was in the nursing home — she and her husband were my favorite aunt and uncle and they spoiled me rotten because they had no children. My company was fantastic and allowed me to work from her condo and work around my travel schedule so I could be with her. I did not particularly like spending all that time in her condo — I once sent an email to someone saying I was trapped in a '50's motel — all avocado green and turquoise. I said I would never go back to FL after she passed away. But I am going back for Victoria's graduation as a Nurse Practioner. She is one impressive person and I hope some of my tax dollars went into her grant.

Tbomb August 12, 2009 at 9:13 pm

Regarding Palin,…..It's one thing to not be qualified, and another,to not not even know you are not qualified….we can do better

averagejoe5 August 12, 2009 at 10:54 pm

Mary, good story, thanks for sharing. I hope some of my tax money helped her also. I love avacado green and turquoise. LOL

Bull Fred, she is just as qualified if not more. We need to get lawyers, both reps and dems out of office. Their only interest is how they can write more laws to get more of our money. Just look how they spin everything. This must stop.
Also your whole blog screams racism. Starting with: Whites better get used to being a minority……and fast. America is becoming increasingly "dark"…
Just remember this Fred, white people pay most of the taxes and they always will.
No one is arguing his intelligence. Hitler was a genius, so was the Rain Man, But I wouldn't want them as leaders of America.
The thing about Obama influenced by whites is exactly correct. He is an Uncle Tom. From listening to him I feel he wants to say what he really feels but can't. Listen to him without a prompter or when asked an off the cuff question, he hasn't a clue. He is a sell out to big money.

Fred August 12, 2009 at 11:48 pm

Joe, you can`t be serious? Palin more qualified? Just a second……………………………………………..sorry, I just got done laughing and I think I broke a rib!!! Uncle Tom? He can`t be…..he is half white! As far as public speaking? What have you been watching? Dubya was a LIGHTING ROD for gaffes. Obama speaks very well and proves it by speaking correct English, unlike W. Racist? By the year 2050, the demographics in America will something like 12-14% black(just like now) and 50% Latino. You know, BROWN, as in a darker color!!! Racist? Wait…………………………………………………………………………………………….I just broke another rib. Well, at least Obama can practice his Muslim faith in peace in his birthplace Kenya, yes?

averagejoe5 August 13, 2009 at 6:58 am

Tell me why she isn't qualified Fred? Because she has an accent? Obama is qualified because he got put through a good college on the govt/my dime by affirmative action? So he was a good student, so was Palen 3.6GPA? He knows and mesmerizes you because his voice patterns are pure NLP so he is more qualified? How about Biden? Is he? I don't care how smart Obama is, he has 10% unemployment and govt is out of control. Before the dems took over congress in 2006 what was unemployment? 5%. THe economy was booming and DOW was at almost 15000. Then the dems took over they as usual dismantled everything. Get a grip Fred, your guys are selling you out. The people are fed up already. They see what is happening. The dems have undermined themselves. Obama's approval rating is now below 50. Sad thing, he isn't the one running the show. It's all about who ya owe. And he owes alot to the wrong people. At least Bush read the bills and had the answers when asked. At least the world is a safer place and Iraq is free and we have a new friend in the middle east. Obama never has the answer, he is putting us in debt we will never get out of. His policies are collapsing the dollar's value. He has no real life leadership experieince in anything other than being an activist. You get what you pay for. Bad thing for him is unlike Bush, he pays attention to polls and the news media. Bush didn't care he just got sh*t done.
I hope you get those ribs fixed before Obama care kicks in. I just might be better for you to take a painkiller than get them fixed.

averagejoe5 August 13, 2009 at 7:18 am

Fred I didn't notice your last line, I was just so in awe of how many sound bites you use. I didn't mention his race one time. It seems like everytime someone makes a point or disagrees with this admins policies you guys want to make his race a point. Why is that?

Da King August 13, 2009 at 7:24 am

Rev asks, "Was that what caused the hateful bitterness expressed in the April Tea Parties?"

"Hateful bitterness" is your spin, but people became very upset in the 4th quarter of 2008 as the recession hit full force and all the taxpayer bailouts of the big corporations started. It only got worse when Obama passed his massive stimulus package and permanently jacked up the cost of government. Then the people saw the government taking over banks, bailing out car companies, etc., and in general spending taxpayer dollars faster than a billion drunken sailors. Now, Obama is trying to takeover the health care industry, which is 1/6th of the economy. Then he wants to hammer America with an economy-killing cap-and-trade bill. This is all starting in a country that is over $11 trillion in debt, and paying $400 billion in interest alone on that debt. We're hemorrhaging jobs, our manufacutring sector is dying, we are becoming a hollowed out shell of an economic power who is being bought by China, we have unsustainable unfunded entitlement liabilities, Obama has jacked the one-year deficit up to nearly $2 trillion, is running up the debt faster than every other administration in history COMBINED……

And the Reverend can't find ANYTHING the people might be upset about in there ? All the Reverend can come up with is "it must be because Obama's black," in a country that just elected Obama president. A country that is 87% non-black.

Rev, with all due respect, you're off your rocker. If the people weren't upset now, they'd have to be dead.

The Reverend August 13, 2009 at 7:57 am

One reason I'm convinced this is all about sore-loserdom and racism, and not about some fiscal responsibility movement is because not one f*cking peep came out of the mouths of these same "protesters" from 2001-2009, when the f*cking national debt went from $5 trillion to $11 trillion.

Secondly, there is racism in the comment thread here. And that racism is the same racism that was acted out at the Palin campaigns, the Tea Parties, and now, the town halls.

By the way…..I am a rocker…..but I'm not off my rocker.

Andrea August 13, 2009 at 8:55 am

One doesn't need to hang up a race card to be a racist.

Last evening on Hardball Lawrence O'Donnell interviewed a woman who is seen in many clips attacking Specter at a town hall meeting. The woman was in her early thirties. Lawrence spoke very nicely to her asking her questions. I came away (and I think most people would ) who saw the clip that while she was really a nice person she was very uniformed and making prejudgment calls from properganda she heard or learned from perhaps her childhood or past. I am not saying she was a racist. But she didn't know the facts. She was reacting in fear.

This morning I was listening to the morning show on FOX . It is no wonder why these people think the way they do. They don't give the full story. So people hear these things which stirs their anger and feelings they had deep inside against black people.

Where was this anger when Bush was spending away Clinton's surplus? You add in misinformation racial prejudice and fear of the unknown and you have these people.
Whats scary is they are not much different than terrorists in other countries that try to destroy the government. They are not asking questions they are stirring anger. They come to gatherings wearing guns. I hope we don't wake up too late to what is going on..

Andrea August 13, 2009 at 9:05 am

This is an example of a missleading made today on Fox and just one example Brian said "Even Gov ____admitted there was end of life provision in the Obama health care. "He didn't explain what that end of life provision was he just dropped a seed hoping everyone would connect it to – Palin's death panel. He didn't explain it was only to cover cost of a consultation if you wanted one. Things like that. They then went on to show how we are pouring water down the drain using a tub as an example. No mention that the economy is turning around , no mention that if we had not given some banks bailouts we would have has a economic collapse. No mention on what the alternative would have been. That's propaganda for you and I only watched about 1/2 hr. ..

Steve August 13, 2009 at 9:35 am

Wow, this topic sure is getting responses. I think it proves my point on government in general, that is "government (and those that respond to bloggers) is fine, as long as you keep the politics out of it".

The Reverend August 13, 2009 at 10:27 am

Exactly, Andrea.

I saw O'Donnell interview that lady….yes, I agree that it seemed like she was ignorant. But what I took away from that interview was that the 30 something woman was simply being dishonest, much like the gun-toting nut Matthews interviewed.

It's Rovian politics writ large.

And just like during the Bush/Cheney years….it's working to crush American democracy.

mary August 13, 2009 at 10:38 am

Andrea I saw that interview and I agree with you completely. In fact I would not be as kind as you in describing the depth of her knowledge. She looked totally dumbfounded when he told her the taxes would be on those making over $150,000 and then she finally responded that she would rather not say what she made and besides she did not know because her husband takes care of all that and then she said he takes good care of us. What a stupid answer and that was not the only uninformed answer especially after her comments preceding the question about paying taxes. She has no idea what her family pays in taxes or if they even do. I would be so embarrassed to come across as that uninformed if I were out there making waves at a town hall in front of the TV cameras AND on another note

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel told Emanuel told Michael Scherer of Time, "It is incredible how much one's reputation can be besmirched and taken out of context." and to me it is incredible how people can listen and make judgements on just sound bites.

The Reverend August 13, 2009 at 10:54 am

Pretty soon, the slogan will be…."Obama pals around with doctors."

Fred August 13, 2009 at 11:08 am

Uh, yeah Joe you did mention his race. Read YOUR post one more time?

averagejoe5 August 13, 2009 at 11:39 am

"Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel told Michael Scherer of Time, "It is incredible how much one's reputation can be besmirched and taken out of context." and to me it is incredible how people can listen and make judgements on just sound bites."

As I and the Rev and others discussed before, this is exactly what is wrong with the media today. It's "newspeople gone wild". They are all like lawyers creating a case off of one statement or a portin of a statement when an explainantion to that statement could possibly change the perspective of the whole situation. They have created govt as the enemy. I can see Soros doing this, but not most of our representatives.

This is how our entire govt is right now also. They are spinning tales. I can guarantee you 100% if Obama and the rest of the dems knew the outline to the healthcare plan and didn't "hem and haw" around the answers when people asked questions, this whole situatiuon would be different. (How does someone representling us in Washington making probably $250K to $300K tell someone they read the highlights of the bill but isn't sure of the details of a bill that will cost our grandchildren's children money?[Spector]) Now Obama has insurmountable odds of 90 to 10 against the plan. Even AARP has backed out of it's endorsement of the plan. A plan which in actuality won't be much different from what we have today. In fact if it weren't a complete over haul and just addressed the 10 or 20 million people that should have health care this could be a great idea. Obamacare has some great ideas. Govt taking over the whole system isn't one that will work right now. You can't have things in a bill that threaten or even can be percieved as threatening ones well being. I would be willing to bet that if elections wer held in Nov there would be alot of changes.

Fred – not in my first post, read it again. Can you answer my question about qualifications?

Fred August 13, 2009 at 12:23 pm

Joe, you`re killing me with semantics……………I did not say which post! You`re the one who called him an Uncle Tom. You also said "Obama is influenced by whites". Being an Uncle Tom INFERS THAT HE IS BLACK!?!? As for dark……don`t you understand that includes blacks, latinos, ectra….? It is a simple fact that the U.S. is getting darker in demographics!!! As for qualifications……ARE YOU READING AND WATCHING ANYTHING? And your comparison between Hitler and Rainman is CRAZY, STUPID, and to be kinder………IGNORANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrea August 13, 2009 at 1:55 pm

Yes Reverand she didn't want to answer some questions , and did seem dishonest.

Mary sorry but you lost the election McCain didn't win. The guy we picked did . It wasn't a close election like the Gore Bush one. Obama clearly WON. We voted for change and health care reform. He promised that to us. We had to sit through 8 years ir right wing policy being shoved down at us. A RUSH to war for no reason. We sat through tax cuts for the rich which put us in debt. We watched as he rammed through things without even trying to get bipartisan support. Obama trying to work with the republicans although I have no clue why when they are pretty much linked to insurance companies.

Fred August 13, 2009 at 2:19 pm

Joe, BTW, ribs can`t be fixed!!!!!!!!

averagejoe5 August 13, 2009 at 4:19 pm

Mary, did you vote for McCain? Newbies….. or kids…….

Fred the reason he is an Uncle Tom has nothing to do with his race. It's because he is being led by the nose by white far left liberals trying to put their agenda through on the back of a black man knowing the race card is just a reach away whenever they need it. (Just like the left called Clarence THomas by the same nick name. Which he isn't he is a conservative.) He is underprepared and comes off as not knowing what he is talking about. This will be the reason he will have a democratic challenge in 2012. Her name is Hillary Clinton. She is already talaking about running. She is being groomed right now.

What that they were both genius' and that genius doesn't qualify anyone for anything.

BTW thanks for the anatomy lesson, it's important to this conversation, Racist

The Reverend August 13, 2009 at 4:56 pm

average….you know I love ya' buddy….but you're mistaken on the "led around by the nose" comment about Obama. The programs and policies we're seeing are HIS programs and policies. According to an interview with Obama by Newsweek's John Meacham, Obama really enjoys calling the shots.

I also must take issue with your Obama "doesn't know what he's talking about" comment. He has been in total control of every topic he's been presented with. One of his best qualities is his thorough knowledge of issues and his ability to explain them for average Americans to understand. It's the misinformation, propaganda and outright lies by conservatives and the media which he has to unravel and correct every so many weeks.

Fred August 13, 2009 at 5:04 pm

Joe, just by the word Uncle Tom, HE IS BLACK! And YOU brought it up. So why did you bring up rib-fixing? But…………………..oh, never mind………..my son said it`s not worth arguing with an idiot.

mary August 13, 2009 at 7:40 pm

Andrea where is the world would you get the idea that I voted for McCain from what I wrote. What are you smoking lady?

mary August 13, 2009 at 7:45 pm

Average — no I did not. Anyone who reads my posts except Andrea it seems is able to tell that.

mary August 13, 2009 at 7:48 pm

Andrea I accept your apology for calling me a Republican.

Da King August 14, 2009 at 7:59 am

Rev,
With all the reasons I gave you for people to be upset, you just dismiss it all and cling to your race card instead. You even create a fictional narrative ("people didn't care about Bush's deficits") to push it. That is extremely sad.

You are 100% wrong about people not caring about Bush's deficits. Why in the hell do you think the GOP was kicked to the curb and the Dems are in charge now ? Then, the Dems get in charge and they are worse than Bush was on spending and deficits. And all the Rev can do is whine about racism. Pathetic.

No..not pathetic.

I didn't say anything about people not being "worried" about Bush deficits.

I said there were no Tea Parties, there were no socialist or nazi signs, there was no rage or hysteria.

If conservatives and libertarians were, as you say, worried, about Bush deficits…..they kept it a secret.

There were ALL KINDS of protests and Nazi signs displayed during the Bush administration, Rev. ALL KINDS of rage and hysteria. Where were you, living under a rock ? Libertarians complained constantly about the Bush deficits. Everything you are saying is 100% false.

Here is but one example for you to pretend you can't see:

That Portland protest was a totally different situation than townhall bust-ups. And your Fox originated piece of propaganda is easily refuted by going over to this link and watching video of the Portland protest.

Protests are not townhall meetings. Not even close.

Da King August 15, 2009 at 11:26 am

Of course it was a different issue and environment, but a protest is a protest. You're being disingenuous, and your statement that "protests are not townhall meetings" is irrelevant.

And if you don't like that example, how about all the shouting down of conservative speakers at college campuses, or the Code Pink interruptions of the Republican National Convention, Congress sessions, Sotomayor hearings, etc, etc. How about ACORN breaking into foreclosed homes, to name but a few more of many. I mean, you just can't be serious about this stuff, Rev. The left has engaged in what you call thuggery at much higher rates than the right has throughout American history. It's not even close. The left advocates it. Read Rules For Radicals sometime. Thuggery is de rigeur.

When you show me an example of Democrats busting-up a democratic townhall info session…..then I might budge.
