The National Threat From Capitalism

by The Reverend on June 22, 2009

in corruption, economy, health care

One of the Akron Beacon Journal's favorite columnists, the Washington Post's George Will, is back in this morning's Journal, even though the Beacon has yet to tell it's readers about the blatant errors Will has made in a couple of his previous columns,….errors never retracted. It's very obvious that today's newspapers no longer feel obligated to tell their readers the truth…..as David Gregory put it recently…"it's not their job."

Will, as is to be expected, once again cheerleads for the powerful, in this case, health insurance companies. The Bowtied Bore bashes away at any health care reform plan which includes a public option. The powerful status quo of capitalism must be protected….and it's Will's job to do just that…..

Assurances that the government plan would play by the rules that private insurers play by are implausible. Government is incapable of behaving like market-disciplined private insurers…….If the public option conforms to the imperatives that regulations and competition impose on private insurers, there is no reason for it.

The Reverend, having knowledge of such things, would say in mockery of little George, that 'Satan, himself, is incapable of behaving like market-disciplined insurers.'

Here are some of those "rules" that private health insurance companies must follow….."rules" that Bowtie Bullpucky says are "implausible" for a government plan to abide by…..

If you are concerned about health coverage,….and who isn't?…take the time to review this video….

I'm not sure how many Americans realize that Big Health Insurance companies, no matter what coverage you have, no matter what your past medical history has been, no matter what co-pay or deductible you agree to…..regularly cancels coverage for paying customers….FOR ANY OR NO REASON AT ALL.

Without the slightest hesitation, those health insurance CEO's boldly and coldly told a Congressional committee that they will do with their paying customers…..as they damn well please. They will absolutely not stop their policy of dropping any customer from coverage, at any time, and for any reason, or no reason at all. Those are the "rules", by god, that they will continue to play by. That is the "imperative", that George Will claims a public option couldn't possibly compete with……and honestly, who in their right goddamn mind would want a government option to include the "imperative" of arbitrarily dropping any American, at any time, and without cause, from health coverage?

Where the big brass balls part comes in about all this is,…..at the same time these Big Health Insurance CEO's insist that they will continue dropping any customer for any or no reason, whatsoever,…..they also whine incessantly that a competitive public coverage plan will drive them all out of business overnight. And people like George Will,…..false American intellectual prophets,…..like Will, swear that the whining is actually a divine symphony sent from heaven.

Capitalism, as we've seen in the Big Banking Takeover of the Nation, continues to be one of the biggest threats facing the American people. And capitalism will always have an army of dishonest hack-cheerleader "journalists" defending them. Most of the Republicans, a handful of yellow-bellied Democrats, and propagandists like George Will stand with those capitalists who are threatening the American people.

Will anyone stand up to our nation's enemies?

Rev,

It's hard to tell in this article if you're writing satire or truly believe capitalism threatens American society. If your serious, then consider any of these options for personal growth:

1) Emigrate to your choice of amazing fascist destinations: Venezuela, Iran, Cuba, or N. Korea.

2) Take an entry level economics class.

If you aren't serious, then my compliments in being able to string together so many illogical statements that the post is an obvious farce. It's even funnier when you link to a post whose author can't even spell 'recession' correctly. What a nice touch! Are you sure you're not just trolling?

Have a good one!

Pan

Thanks, Pan, for not rebutting anything in the post. Except for the national threat of misspelled words.

In all seriousness…..Why do you support America's enemies?

Cheers.

Capitalism has made the U.S. the most powerful and richest land in the history of the earth. I love it here!

averagejoe5 June 22, 2009 at 1:04 pm

Canada and France have both discontinued joint replacement surgeries. You can get them, but you must pay. I guess they don't care about the quality of life like the US. Rev, no matter what you or the goofs in our govt that hate this country and it's values and beliefs say, America's health system is envied by the entire world. To fully socialize it would ruin it. Larry is right on with his comment. We are the most fortunate civilization in the world. Our govt is ruining it by trying to bleed it dry through taxes etc.

Do I believed we should have agovt run back up system? Yes. It's called SSI and Welfare. Run them correctly and quit wasting the money from them and they will become healthy.

…and medicare and medicaid

The Reverend June 22, 2009 at 4:17 pm

larry is on the side of America's enemies. Likes 'em, even.

Neither this post, or any of my others, call for elimination of private health insurance. That isn't the argument. The argument, which the capitalists, our national enemy in the health care theater, is whether Americans will be given a public, non-profit, option for health coverage.

So far, our nation's enemies say no.

Our nation's health system produces a poorer product than many other countries have…..and while it is producing that inferior product….it costs more than any other nation's program.

Will anyone stand up to the capitalist jihadists?

angry conserv June 22, 2009 at 4:18 pm

OK now that we know capitalism if our enemy. Rev could you please tell me who is my friend and what name do I give that system?

larry d. June 22, 2009 at 9:28 pm

Our health system is the best in the history of the earth! I just may live forever because of the prolific breakthroughs brought about by the marriage of capitalism and medicine!

Dave June 22, 2009 at 11:43 pm

"Will anyone stand up to the capitalist jihadists?"

Wrong question. The question is whether or not anyone will stand up to the Socialistas and prosperity destroyers. Will anyone stand against the overtly naive, dim-witted, ignorant and uninformed socialist pigs? You'd have thought with the fall of the Communist Bloc that they would have noticed that the great experiment in social inefficiency and corruption was an abject failure.

Government cannot play like profit centers because they do not need to (from a survival standpoint), and the government can change the rules in their favor at any time.

Here are the deceptions in the socialist healthcare argument:

Deception 1: "Health care is too expensive."
Translation: We hate the fact that companies, doctors and insurance companies make money on health services that we, as pinko commies, consider a right.

profits are not bad. Profits fund drug research and medical device research. PET scans did not fall out of the sky – it was developed by profits. To keep profits, insurance companies assess risk and adjust accordingly. The issue is not who got dropped from a company for "no reason", but who got dropped "for no reason" and could not find coverage with another provider.

Deception 2: "People can't afford healthcare."
Translation: We really have no clue what we are talking about – we just parrot talking points.

I pay for my own family's health insurance. I'm self-employed. My wife and I together, for the best coverage with a low deductible including dental and vision, pay $450 a month. I heard some stupid CEO on TV saying he pays $8000 per employee, and that he has no choice in rates. He should not be running a business, and will not be running a business for long with that thought process. There is NO WAY health insurance is that much, if you look around.

Deception 3: "The gov't program will be better and more cost effective."
Translation: Just like everything else we touch, we'll waste money like a drunken sailor in a whore house.

The gov't will be cheaper?! Really?! Oh…and there will be no corruption either…right? Right. How about slower? I have a Canadian friend who waited a year for knee surgery.

Whole having health care for everyone is a noble idea. Unfortunately, it is a fatally flawed idea…like all of communism.

The Reverend June 23, 2009 at 7:53 am

There's the reaction I was looking for.

Reality number one….health insurance IS too expensive. Anyone who doesn't understand that….doesn't even understand the issue. Health costs have been averaging 3-6 times the rate of inflation for a long time. The reason employers are dropping health care benefits for their employees?? Too expensive.

While profits may not be bad in all instances…..profits in the health coverage industry leaves 50 million without coverage.

Reality number two….umm….people can't afford health coverage. And that's if a for-profit capitalist jihadist will even sell people health insurance. Pre-existing conditions disqualify, you know.

My wife is responsible for comparing and finding health insurance for the employees of the company she works for. Each year for the last 10 years, it has been the same story…higher prices, more limitations. $800-1000 per month, per employee, is very common. $12K to 14K per year.

If you think $10,000 per year is not too expensive…..then there's another problem…..obliviousness.

Medicare is more efficient than private insurance and guess what? No one is tossed out for pre-existing conditions.

And this…

"The issue is not who got dropped from a company for "no reason", but who got dropped "for no reason" and could not find coverage with another provider."

What? Another provider who can drop them for no reason? What it is is ruthless capitalism…like I said….. jihadist capitalism. Banksters and health coverage mob bosses practice ruthless jihadist capitalism…..and I'm calling for those who will stand up to these, our nation's most dangerous enemies.

Da King June 23, 2009 at 11:56 am

The Rev says anyone who disagrees with him is an enemy of the nation.

The Rev says capitalism is "one of the biggest threats facing the American people."

Who are you, Hugo Chavez in disguise ?

You should stop inciting violence with your hate speech, and as John Lennon said, "If you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, you ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow."

You know it's gonna be, Al-right, Al-right, Al-right, Al-ri-i-ight.

The Reverend June 23, 2009 at 4:22 pm

Never had a picture of Mao…..but I still love that Beatles tune.

Oh…and yeah….I'm a bit more svelte than Hugo….and more handsome.

Da King June 24, 2009 at 5:17 am

Maybe you don't carry the picture, but you have the ideology down pat.

Reprise:

But when you want money for people with minds that hate,
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait.

larry d. June 24, 2009 at 7:39 am

What is the release date on Part II, Reverend–"The National Threat from Democracy."

Da King June 25, 2009 at 5:58 am

Voters are enemies of the state.

The Reverend June 26, 2009 at 8:09 am

There's always the Electoral College to bash. And what a threat it proved to be, huh?
