Btw, I'm FOR gay marriage from a legal standpoint, but I'd never force a church to perform one in contradiction to their beliefs. Separation of church and state works both ways.

The left isn't arguing FOR arranged marriages, FOR marriage to underage girls, or FOR polygamy… they're arguing for gay marriage, which by all accounts hasn't been endorsed by any major religion ever, ever.

I'm amazed that someone would bring up something they don't endorse (say, polygamy) as a justification for something they personally endorse, and in the name of religion, which itself doesn't endorse it.

Which religions (or secular states) throughout all of human history have NOT defined marriage as being between a man and a woman ? I can think of a few who defined it as being between one man and several women, but always with the man-woman dynamic.

Arranged marriages, marriages to under age girls, marriages which cannot happen unless both participants claim allegiance to supernatural doctrines…..

Like I said, marriage is interpreted differently by different religions.

Of course, the larger point I was making was that an institution authorized by a secular state, has, up til now, been dominated by supernaturalistic religious beliefs.
