No, this is normal, unprovocative, everyday Cable News Journalism. Nothing wrong with Glenn Beck, nothing wrong with Fox's promotion of Beck…..nothing at all.
America needs more of this type of "creative" journalistic effort. Naturally, it goes without saying, Beck is not seeking to incite or enflame his audience.
He's simply exercising his free speech rights. That's all. And he's exercising that right very, very responsibly. Conservative protectors of free speech rights will, and should, applaud Beck's glorious exercise of a simulated gasoline ignited killing.
I mean, hell, that Constitution ain't a suicide pact, ya' know.

Rev he's making a point, not inciting violence. How come we never heard you scream about the efigy burnings of Bush and Cheney. You never talked about how Air America or Jon Stewart or Keith Olberman or Rosie O'Donnell or how of the other comedian turned liberal politicical activists, have incited violence and spread lies about the previous adminstration. Libs are pathetic. We need more people like Beck because eveything he said in that video is right on. And everyone is just following Obama and the rest of our govt right over the cliff. Does Obama want us to be like the Cubans making $9 a day. Tell us what he has done that will have a positive outcome? That won't raise the overall tax spectrum or cost us jobs. He says he's creating or SAVING a couple million jobs, he just cost 10,000 people their jobs with the discontinuance of the f-22 fighter program. Is their something on the plate to replace those $50000, to $200000 a year jobs or the billions in tax revenue? I didn't see it. Maybe they will all get jobs a Walmart or the dollar store or Mickey D's and be good little drones. Good idea that he is steering that money into more social programs so that the leaches can get more of what they don't deserve.
THese aren't the days of megacorporations or industries
This just in from the latest ratings:
Glenn beck had more viewers last week than MSNBC, CNN, and Al Jazerra combined.
Did liberal Big Media celebrities burn those effigies, average?
Do you really have any evidence that Rosie, et.al., incited violence….that is, did they use revolution-type talk? Did they use violent talk, at all?
I agree that those you mentioned disagreed with what Bush did, but inciting violence? I don't think so.
Christopher…..When you act all crazy in America, you get a lot of attention from media.
Fox viewers, already proven to know the least about what's really going on, are primarily lazy….that's why they rely on passive teevee watching for their information. Bunch of lazy folks, too lazy to read for themselves, who enjoy the bully style of the violent-inciters who anchor Fox programs. Except for Shep.
Ratings are high for American Idol, as well as several other inane and idiotic teevee shows. So, in the case of teevee, ratings don't really tell you much.
I didn't see Beck burn anything, Reverend. And the fellow getting doused wasn't representing Obama as far as I could tell.
I've listened to Beck for years and the guy is simply amazing. His Valentines day hoax show will leave you in tears laughing. Joining him with Fox was brilliant. The only question is will Glenn Beck be able to become more popular than Hannity or O'Reilly.
Come on Rev, didn't you ever listen to Air America or the Daily Show or The View? They called for the trial and execution of Bush and Cheney constantly for the past 7 years, including Al Franken. (Did you know that Air America went out of biz because they didn't pay thier bills. Typical Libs….just sayin) The same thing with Stewart, Maher and Moore. These are comedians and they say this sh*t for shock value. But guess what, libs actually quote Jon Stewart and Alex Jones. They believe the comedians and conspiracy guys.
I Thought,
and Said to everyone,
'I don't like the taste".
Sweeter drops felt my tongue,
Than had before.
Mirror bulbs rain,
Crackling egg-bulbs.
'I never liked 'em',
Eden pains remembered,
For ideas of Will.
And a Happy Easter to you too, Halifax.
larry..
"I didn't see Beck burn anything, Reverend. And the fellow getting doused wasn't representing Obama as far as I could tell."
Beck said HE represented Obama. So, Beck was saying that by Obama JUST TAKING UP IMMIGRATION, he was pouring gasoline on the American people and looking for a light to set the country on fire. Violence talk. Actually, mass violence talk.
Personally, because I recognize opportunistic buffoons who will do or say anything for personal aggrandizement, Beck doesn't bother me. But Beck's just the kind of guy to give that nut out there the motivational push he or she needs.
Christopher…to each his own, I guess. Beck fared poorly over on CNN. If Beck does well on Fox, it says something about the viewers, not Beck. I'm sorry…I'm not seeing the talent. To me, he's just another nut.
I kept waiting for Beck's call for violence. And there wasn't one. No surprise there. All I heard was Beck saying Obama's policies were like pouring gasoline on Americans.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
I'll put you down, then, King, as a Glenn Beck apologist. Not that there is anything wrong with that. This is America where each of us can support the bleatings of whomever we choose.
I simply thought that Beck's theatrics were a bit delusional and potentially dangerous……but you didn't hear any call for violence in Beck's 'dousing with gasoline' by Obama of the American people. Sounds like a Beck-interpretation of social conflagration to me, which kind of, you know, implies violence.
But it can't be…cause you didn't hear it. To you, Obama, though still at 66% approval ratings, is pouring gasoline on the American populace…..and lighting a match.
You know what I'm hearing from Beck? Projection. I'm hearing that HE, and his conspiratorial wingnut brethren, are pouring the gasoline onto the wingnuts who watch and listen, and HE, and his Tea Party conspiratorial wingnut brethren, are lighting the match.
That's what I'm hearing.
There is no apology necessary for Glenn Beck, by me or anyone else. He's allowed to say what he wants. So are you.
I still didn't see Beck call for violence. Protest yes, violence no.
I'm wondering, did the Rev see any similiar call to violence in Martin Luther King ? All that riling up of the people, the demonstrations, the marching… shoot, the Rev must have been beside himself calling for those dangerous and seditious civl rights marchers to sit down and shut up. As for me, I was on MLK's side.
Comparing Beck to King is….so not right.
