Heads We Win, Tails You Lose

by The Reverend on January 28, 2009

in Uncategorized

Obama won the election….Democrats increased their majorities in the Congress….so minority Republicans should get their way on all new policy decisions.

Obama campaigned on closing Guantanomo and ending torture, and won the election…..so Gitmo should stay open and torture continued.

Obama campaigned on cutting payroll taxes for middle and lower income working families, and won the election….so Republicans should get their way on reducing income tax rates.

Democrats won the last election by a wide margin and now hold significant majorities in both houses of Congress….therefore, only Republican economic dogma should be considered for the new recovery and stimulus legislation.

Obama ran on ending Bush tax cuts for those making over $200K….and won the election…..which means that Obama should CUT taxes for those making over $200K.

Obama campaigned explaining how conservative economic policies have failed, miserably, over the last number of years, leading us into a New Depression…..Obama won the election handily…..therefore, only Republican economic principles (translation: tax cuts) should be taken seriously.

Obama and the Democrats campaigned, and won, pointing out that the income gap of the top income "earners" as compared to average working Americans has never been so wide……and that proves that more tax cuts and financial breaks should be handed out to those same top income "earners".

Obama campaigned on a new bipartianship style, new politics, and…..won…..therefore, Republicans are entitled to undermine and mock any attempts at…..bipartisanship, as John Boner did yesterday before he and his GOP clones met with Obama.

Obama won the popular vote by almost 10 million votes, and by the GOP's own admission, Obama was the most liberal senator in D.C……..which equates into: America is a conservative nation and Obama must govern as a center-right president.

Obama and the Democrats crushed the Republicans in November's election……Obama is now the president…..and that means that Bush, even now, should be able to keep his ex-employees from respecting all future subpoenas, which means Bush is still president.

Obama ran his campaign targeting working families and the middle class as the focus of where to rebuild our national economy, from the bottom up……and that means that the national economy should be rebuilt from the top down.

The new president campaigned….and….ummm…..won, by explaining his new way forward in dealing with the middle east, diplomacy and development, ……meaning that his calling of Palestinian leader Abbas and his interview on an Arab teevee station proves that Obama is an enemy of America.

President Obama…..oddly, the winner of the presidential election…..actually said the words, "I won", the other day while bargaining with Republicans…..therefore Obama is shrill, irresponsible, out of touch, mean, juvenile, pissy…..and that means he should be investigated to see if he really is the president.

Last but not least. President Obama and the Democratic majority, all winners in the past election, have promised to move with urgency to address the numerous crisis situations now confronting America because of failed Republican rule over the last eight years…..and as they do so…..that means that only Serious Republicans should be interviewed by Knee Pad Media. Furthermore, it means that Americans are not interested in hearing about how the Democratic majority plan on getting us out of those many crises…..it means Americans want non-stop coverage of important stuff, like Blago's hair.

What's with all this bellyaching? Are liberals physiologically incapable of being happy?

Obama's war of words with that lunatic rightwing nutjob Rush is particularly unseemly. I'm becoming embarrassed for the office.

  • Bubba

Yes Rev, Obama won. Now let's see what he will do with it. He has the majorities to do as he wishes, so it's all up to him now. From January 20th it has all been his fault.

  • The Reverend

Obama said, "Just listening to Rush Limbaugh won't get anything done."

Limbaugh has been lifted up as the GOP's minority leader. Obama pointed out that Rush was simply a radio personality. Obama is driving a wedge between the already-bankrupt and failed GOP coalition. Pointing out that listening to Rush is a futile way to get things done…..will cause the few moderate conservatives left to think about it.

Obama is the GOP's worst nightmare. The GOP will get picked up by the trash haulers before Obama leaves office in 8 years.

Teevee media drives opinion. Is it bellyaching to point out what I pointed out….when it's what's happening every day right in front of our eyes? Liberals are happy…..but just like parents are happy with their children but always seek to lead, guide and direct them anyway….so too liberals with America.

Bubba: Is the Bush Depression Obama's fault because we're still experiencing it after Bush left?

  • Bubba

Yes it is, just like the Clinton recovery, which actually started during GHW Bush's term.

  • angry conserv

Yes Larry liberals are incapable of happiness. But it doesnt prevent them from feeling good by constantly attacking those that question their policies. Not that they are willing topdebate their proposed actions and consequences they just continue to attack others humanity.

  • angry conserv

Please amend my statment to read many liberals.

  • larry d.

I'm afraid we're going to see some kind of shouting match between Obama and Sean Hannity at some point. What an embarrassment that will be!

  • averagejoe5

Tails, we all lost today with the biggest pork spending package ever in our history. Looks like George Soros is getting what he paid for.

  • Da King

Suddenly, after 8 years, the Rev DOESN'T like 'speaking truth to power.'

Obama can do no wrong. All hail Obama !!!

  • mary

Republicans are being offered a chance to be part of the solution which is more than THEY did 8 and 4 years ago. I do not know how long standing their option to offer input will be but I for one am getting tired of their whining. I am in "the south" surrounded by whining, doomsday predicting, crying in their beer Republicans but at least it is warm.

  • larry d.

Their option to offer input will continue as long as some Republicans win seats in the house and senate. Almost half of all voters voted against Obama last November.

  • mary

House Republicans have marginalized themselves into ineffectiveness. Because moderate Republicans in the House have lost, there are mostly ideological conservatives left, who either cannot or will not reasonably negotiate.

House Republicans in their view have a choice: vote for a successful bill that credits Democrats, or vote for an unsuccessful bill that will be used against them down the road. That means that there is no reason for cooperation from House Republicans. The expectation that House Republicans will act in the nation's best is a shaky one at best — there will be better luck in the Senate. I think the American people are reaching the point where they will have little patience for politics as usual, and instead they will be looking for action. The House Republicans have not learned to play well with others.

  • The Reverend

Many times I have mentioned my thanks to G.W. Bush for personally destroying the GOP.

Obama's outing of this dysfunctional political party in this stimulus "debate" has been brilliant.

Obama genuinely invited bipartisanship…..cut out GOP objections from the bill….and still, not one vote. The anti-American, anti-bipartisan GOP has been openly humiliated by a conciliatory president.

None of which is a surprise to me.

Gonna' be a long journey in the wilderness for the GOP…..especially with Rush as their Leader.

mary….go ahead and rub it in while us Ohioans are freezing and shoveling mountains of snow….go ahead.

  • angry conserv

    Rev,
I cant argue that Bush along with most of his party elite did destroy the party and have given Obama clear sailing and the Reps.have little moral ground nor are there enough principaled Reps. left to challange the current direction.

  • The Reverend

    Fair enough.
