Why Israeli Leaders Terrorize Palestinians

by The Reverend on January 9, 2009

in Bush White House, Israel, moral values, pre-emption

I must say, the brutal and criminal attack by Israeli military forces on Palestinians in Gaza, followed by the despicable responses from the Bush administration and a Democratic Congress to that criminal, savage attack, has been burning my ass in the extreme.

There are no comprehensible justifications for the wicked responses from American leaders. None whatsoever. Unquestioningly supporting, nay…cheering on, Israel's crime, does not, in any non-maniacal way of thinking, serve any legitimate American purposes. It is simply madness.

Setting aside for a moment the open insanity of American leaders…..and their stenographic, pom, pom waving appendages in the corporate media…….the following piece offers up what could be a credible explanation of why Israeli leaders are carrying out their dirty deeds….

The Israelis are a gifted and resourceful people who fully deserve the right to live in peace, but who seem intent on squandering every chance to allow that to happen. It's difficult to avoid the conclusion that this conflict serves the political and economic purposes of Israel so well that they have every interest in maintaining it. While there is fighting they can continue to build illegal settlements. While there is fighting they continue to receive huge quantities of military aid from the United States. And while there is fighting they can avoid looking candidly at themselves and the ruthlessness into which they are descending.

Gaza is now an experiment in provocation. Stuff one and a half million people into a tiny space, stifle their access to water, electricity, food and medical treatment, destroy their livelihoods, and humiliate them regularly…and, surprise, surprise – they turn hostile. Now why would you want to make that experiment?

Because the hostility you provoke is the whole point. Now 'under attack' you can cast yourself as the victim, and call out the helicopter gunships and the F16 attack fighters and the heavy tanks and the guided missiles, and destroy yet more of the pathetic remains of infrastructure that the Palestinian state still has left. And then you can point to it as a hopeless case, unfit to govern itself, a terrorist state, a state with which you couldn't possibly reach an accommodation.

And then you can carry on with business as usual, quietly stealing their homeland. Link

Could be.

I say the Palestininans have the right to bomb Israel. Afterall they desrerve what they get for killing Jesus. To hell with all of them.

Ima said it better than you did, Reverend.

The Reverend January 10, 2009 at 12:11 pm

Because, as of yet, there is no empirical evidence that Jesus actually, you know, existed…..Ima's "right to bomb Israel" is a moot point.

But I must say…..those numerous "inspired" and "infallible" Old Testament stories concerning Israel's Yahweh-commanded genocide of non-Israeli tribes has probably had some influence on historic Israeli decision making.

I realize that any criticism of Israel is taboo and earns one the anti-Semite branding….especially here in the new "holy lands" of America. Just as any criticism of American neo-conservative insanity earns one the label of "anti-American."

Israel, surely, is doing what W. and The Dick have done so successfully. Redefine human slaughter as "liberation." Spread freedom.

What appears at first to be hundreds of mangled Muslim bodies, whether Iraqi or Palestinian….upon further inspection and evaluation….are recognized for what they truly are…..the spreading of freedom.

But of course your not condoning Hamas's actions.

You forgot to throw that in there this time.

The Reverend January 10, 2009 at 3:22 pm

See, I completely agree with conservatives about Israel having the right to protect itself. I don't patronizingly say the words. I believe that it is true.

But for some reason, conservatives cannot, for the life of them, agree that Israel's brutality, recently, is an utter abuse of the right to protect themselves.

I'm not done blogging about this. I cannot understand why it is that only Israel, of all the world's countries, can launch atrocities, and then be immediately praised, defended and supported by an American Congress and a criminal executive branch.

This reminds me of the insanity of the Vietnam-day leaders.

Perhaps good news. Obama, it is being said, is keeping quiet about Israel/Palestine because he doesn't plan on joining in with the insanity when he takes over.

larry d. January 10, 2009 at 9:29 pm

Wow. The soon to be leader of the free world 'keeping quiet' while these atrocities are happening. I guess those targeted for slaughter should just wait until Jan. 20?

Ima Dumass January 10, 2009 at 9:37 pm

Rev, Should they go in and just arrest the perps that are sending the missles?

The Reverend January 11, 2009 at 8:55 am

No, Ima. They should continue to destroy everything and everybody in Gaza. Teach 'em a lesson.

This gruesome and unnecessary crime will be around the necks of the Israelis for a good while.

The "Israel is the victim" and "what's Israel supposed to do?" bullsh*t is simply a diversion. Israel started this crime and has no plans on stopping.

larry d. January 12, 2009 at 12:21 pm

When will The One decree the unlawfulness of this gruesome and unnecessary crime?

The blood will stain his delicate hands for a good long while.

Da King January 12, 2009 at 3:25 pm

I'm starting to think the Rev is an actual Hamas member. If only Israel would cease to exist, the problem would be solved, eh Rev ? Zionist pigs.

Da King January 12, 2009 at 3:29 pm

No evidence that Jesus existed ?

I assume you mean other than all those Gospels.

The Reverend January 12, 2009 at 5:46 pm

The Bible is a religious book. Does Zeus exist?

Some of the Jewish leaders, apparently, are actually Zionist pigs. Just as the Islamic extremists are Muslim pigs.

larry is taunting me about Obama's silence. I won't apologize for Obama's silence….he should have already taken the correct position….ceasefire now. Him not being the president yet is kind of a weasly response.

larry d. January 12, 2009 at 6:55 pm

I'm sorry for additional taunts posted before I saw your response, Rev.

But if the U.S. and Israel are the world's biggest terrorists, I'd think you'd be calling for the man's head by now.
