Obama Press Conference

by The Reverend on April 29, 2008

in Uncategorized

What's interesting to me, as I watch Obama's press conference to discuss the deep and serious threat to the country Obama's pastor has become,….what's interesting is how intensely the Lapdoggers are scrutinizing every syllable. Repetitive questionings and requestionings, digging deep for every nuance in Barack Obama's answers to their own Rev Wright smear and guilt by association game I would tag 'Operation Pile The F*ck On'.

Go here to see the press conference.

These are the same Knee Pad wearers, who for 7 1/2 years haven't pressed the Criminal in Chief about any of his numerous crimes and even more numerous scandals. None of it. The convicted felon Jack Abramoff, now serving time, had the key to the f*cking Bush White House….he was in and out of there so many times. If the Padders were looking for some good-ole guilt by goddamn association, you know, to get all high investigative minded over, why have they passed up the best material?

No intense questionings about any of Bush's reign of terror. 9-11, Bin Laden, Iraq, Katrina, Valerie Plame, USA firings, propagandizing, numerous obstructions of justice, torture, spying on Americans…..that's a train full right there…..and no intense investigative coverage of any of it, none. All of Bush's crimes and near crimes are like the sun is to a speck of dust compared to (Jesus) what Obama's pastor says…..but there it is. Surgical questions, the likes of which haven't come out of these suck-jobs mouths since Monica…..and all over what a guy Obama knows says and does, a guy Obama has already told Americans about with a more extensive speech on race.

Now Obama has repeated his divergence with Wright's thinking. He has also chastised Wright for making himself the issue in the middle of what Obama is trying to accomplish for the country. But none of this will be good enough. It will always be that he hasn't made himself "clear" in some way. Every word of the press conference will be parsed so often by all the Usual Knee Pad Suspects, it won't even register on the credibility meter. Then the Village will argue about all their own nuanced interpretations of what Obama said…..and then we'll have to go all over it again after a short intermission, you know, just so Obama makes "clear" his relationship with ______________ fill in the blank.

Wright is only the first one. Next up will be Ayers followed by Rezko. All broadcast and cable news related programs, all of puke AM radio, all the major newspapers will perform their authoring and oraling work in identical fashion until November.

It's a broken and unredeemably corrupt system.

  • http://politics.ohio.com Ben

They are piling on him because he based them in the National Press Club talk. The MSM didnt like that.

  • larry d.

I've now switched to the good pastor's side. Obama threw him under the bus and he's going to cash in. Wright's going to be bigger than Sharpton, and Obama will be about as relevent as Jesse Jackson.

  • Jon

I don't know what kind of foul-mouthed idiot blogger you are, but I guess we should expect such drivel from someone with such narrow-minded views.

The fact is, Obama sat under this anything-but-"reverend" hatemonger for 20 years…more than half of his life…and considers him his spiritual mentor. You don't think Wright has spewed such nonsense over two decades?? And yet, Obama endorses him with his 20-year attendance and raising his freakin family in this so-called "church."

So dude, this is not so much about Mr. Wright….as it is about Obama and what he has and does stand for. If you're truly ashamed of someone's stance, you flee immediately. You don't stay a part of it. And I believe that *thinking* Democrats and superdelegates are fleeing this tandem/duo in droves. We don't need this crap or way of thinking.

  • Scam

Make No Mistake… What we are seeing is a Bad Guy / Good Guy Scam. After the initial negative spin from the Wright sermon video's, He was ordered to lay low ( after being rewarded for decades of inspiring poor blacks to believe their problems are the white mans fault with a New Mansion ) while a scheme could be devised to reverse the negative consequences. Now preacher ( not deserving of the title reverend ) Wright ( Bad Guy ) has been coached and is performing as planned, delivering speeches with extremely outrageous comments that will and have enraged all sane and patriotic Americans. The Power Monger Obama ( Good Guy ) too has been coached and is performing as planned, Condemning Wright and pretending to distance himself completely from this Anti-American Hate Monger. The Media is being played like Puppets and is Eating all this Up. Please America, Do not be fooled by this performance, Please Beware the Power Monger Obama !!!

  • Andrea2

Perhaps Jon you should hear the first sermon Obama listened to of Wrights. The one that inspired him.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L65nTKHq0v4&watch_response

I applaud Obama's open mind. A man who was raised by a white mother in a white world who went out to find out about the black world. The problem with many conservatives is they close the door to other opinions and ideas without really trying to hear them. We have seen a President take us to war and not understand the culture of the people in the country, we saw an administration believe this war would be short ,they thought that the people would just be so happy with our invasion of their country . Why ? because they didn't understand the people there. To understand why people behave the way they do we must sometimes sit in the same pew as they do. If you haven't sat in and listened to wrights speeches and sermons other than the sound bites, then you have no right to be judgemental. You now are seeing a angry Wright who is out to defend himself.

Mr Obama has shown us courage, he shown us he sensitive he shown us much more integrity than hillary and McCain put together. While the two of them support a fake gas tax decrease that wont help us , but do so to get votes Obama stands alone to do what is right. While Mccain tried to win the support of Hagee and Hillary has associations with many questionable people Obama's has had to denounce a one time friend of his.
I am sure many of you critics also have someone you know who has said things you disagree with , and you would not want their words to be yours , but you keep your friendship with them. So while we waste our time listening to this media show, we are in danger loosing a chance to have a man who can unite this country , change the country for the better. A man that if elected can change the way the world sees us.

  • Insanity

It is absolute insanity to continue allowing Obama to seek the office of President. In light of this obvious scam attempting to improve Obama's image, DNC chairman, Howard Dean should seek a restraining order immediately.

    Prediction…

In an emergency session, The superdelegates will nominate Al Gore, Gore will be our next President!

  • Anti-American

Obama… " I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction "

    The Winds Have Shifted…

Please Obama, Go stand with the Muslims !!!

  • 2 cents

Here's a well-researched article by Chris hedges of Truthdig exposing the truth about Obama.
Read it thouroughly and then tell me how "hopeful" Obama really is.
Paste it into your browser and dig in.

  • The Reverend

Dear Jon: Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. I hope your experience on the blog was exhilarating. Venting is therapeutic, so I hope you felt better after taking the time to comment.

I am indeed, as you mentioned, a "blogger". However, calling me an "idiot" is misguided. Those who read here regularly have a difficult time gainsaying what I'm saying. Know what I'm sayin'?

Hey, I heard Obama's pizza delivery guy is a bit anarchical in his thinking and always plays loud ghetto rap in his car when he delivers. Obama likes the crust despite the crazy delivery guy. My question is: Shouldn't the breaking news story tonight be, "When will Obama change pizza shops?"

Wouldn't it be appropriate for, you know, Matt Drudge, or some similar asshole, to start a countdown clock ticking down the time until Obama refuses to order pizza from his favorite shop? Hmmmmm?

To rail on as you did, Jon, with your smear and guilt by association thinking is prime evidence that far right conservatives are in desperation mode…..and so early too. Too bad about that McCain candidacy, huh?

There's still much shoveling of manure to be done, Jon, the GOP being in the dumpster the way they are. I think you should pursue Obama's grocer, dry cleaner, yard guy, cleaning lady…..don't you?……just look at all of the people with whom the screecher right can smear-Obama-by-association. Fertile soil for wingnuts.

Once again, I hope your visit was, as they say, "comfy".

  • The Reverend

Scam: The Reverend has been accused often, mostly by larry, of being a bit conspiracy theory minded. You know, it's all in good fun and all…..but after reading your comment about how Barack Obama and Rev Wright have jointly choreographed the clusterf*ck I've been witnessing on my teevee……I think maybe you need to talk to someone objective to see what they think.

    Just a precautionary measure.

  • The Reverend

Insanity and Anti-American……ummm….I think your names speak for themselves.

PS: Anti….could you provide a link for the Obama sentence you keep posting? Not that I would doubt the credibility of someone who always closes with, "Go stand with the Muslims".
Nothing like that. Just want to follow up.

  • The Reverend

Andrea: Thank you so much for breaking up the wingnut logjam with your well thought out words.

Obama is being chided for not lashing out and acting like McCain when he called his wife a "c*nt". Media is doing it's best to provoke Obama to anger….over trivialities, naturally.

My opinion of Barack Obama has only been elevated by how he has handled these ridiculous "controversies".

Establishment Villagers are scared to death of an Obama presidency. The disgraceful scene we've been witnessing, sadly, will only get worse before Obama is elected president in November.

Then the real interesting stuff will begin. The question then will be: Will the establishment and media powers allow Obama to do the job of the presidency? Or will they make the Bill Clinton bashing days look like child's play?

I think I know the answer.

  • Da King

    Rev,
I'm glad Obama has finally seen the light regarding Jeremiah Wright. Better late than never, I guess, but still way late (by about 20 years). Every bit of this smacks of pure political calculation on Obama's part. In the beginning, Obama's connections to Wright's church helped him advance his career, so Obama looked the other way when the crazy racist Wright engaged in his incoherent babble (reminiscent of another Rev I know). Now, after numerous twists and turns, Obama has thrown the not-so-good Reverend under the bus, IN ORDER TO FURTHER HIS POLITICAL CAREER. It's called damage control. See, Jeremiah Wright threw Obama a huge curveball with his latest round of press conferences. Instead of keeping his racist yap shut, Wright repeated his filth all over again, giving the lie to Obama's faux claim that Wright's previous comments were out of character, that they were sound bytes taken out of context. That was always a ludicrous proposition, but Wright put the falseness of Obama's claims on display for the whole country to see. Plus, he called Obama's previous responses "political", which may be the only true thing Wright has said to date. Obama IS a politician, and every move surrounding the Wright controversy is a political strategy

But good luck trying to sell your 'character and judgement doesn't count' message and changing the subject. You're gonna need it.

FYI – Calling everybody who disagrees with you a wingnut makes you seem very close-minded (which you are, but you shouldn't put it on display like that).

  • The Reverend

No…Obama confronted this issue the first time, giving Wright the benefit of the doubt….which was the human thing to do. Obama denounced the vitriolic statements, rejected them making it clear he, himself, did not believe Wright's words. And Obama went further by turning the question into the most honest speech about race I've heard since MLK. Wright, now retired, wanted to take advantage of an opportunity for self-aggrandizement, for personal fame and fortune, and Obama put him in is place, clearly and definitively yesterday.

    That's strong leadership.

Instead of understanding this….you consider Obama a liar, disbelieving that he hadn't heard such hate statements before. You choose to believe that. The way Obama has handled this, and other , totally nonsensical, guilt by acquaintance spin games, has been honest and open and intellectually and reasonably sound. Those who want to make something out of this are, honest to god, really grasping around for anything.

  • larry d.

I thought you considered Wright a 'great American' who spoke the truth?

  • Republican

If we want a McCain win in November, We best not be bashing Obama before he gets nominated. Hillary would be much more difficult to beat in the general election.

  • The Reverend

Wright did speak the truth. But his press orgasm recently was an entirely different animal. Anyone who doesn't think our chickens came home to roost on 9-11, isn't paying attention, or doesn't want to pay attention.

I suppose they attacked us because of our freedoms and because we're good and righteous.

Republican: Save your wingnut powder, you're going to need some come October. Hillary can't pull Independent voters away from McCain, Obama can. Hillary, if the candidate, will lose half of the black vote and more than half of the new young voters now rallying for Obama.

Your comment is a smokescreen. Hillary, if the candidate, will lose to McCain in a very close election. Obama would blow McCain out.

Save your pipedreaming for the faith basers.

  • larry d.

If he's speaking such important truths, what does that say about Obama throwing the poor man under the bus?

Also, that quote about standing with Muslims gets me every time!

  • Tom

The media never iterates what Reverend Wright said that was so offensive.

    Nor does the runt media:
Wright repeated his filth all over again,…
• larry d.

    We can pretty much replace
with
at this point.

  • Endorsements

With the sickening likes of Hamas, Black Panthers, Oprah, And Michael Moore endorsing Obama, What more reasons do we need to vote for Hillary or McCain?

  • The Reverend

I do get a kick out of the comments. Thank you each and every one.

  • frank

Where were all these defenders of American freedom before the 2000 election? Were they bothered by GWB's association with Billy Graham, who believed that Jews were destroying the country? I thought that with Kennedy's election, we would have freed ourselves of the notion that a candidate takes marching orders from their religious leaders. So perhaps these people can explain how Mr. Wright's views will translate into government policy.

  • larry d.

We have no idea how his ideas will translate into government policy, frank. With Obama changing his tune every time he reads a poll, ultimately throwing his poor longtime advisor under the bus, we don't know if Wright successfully brainwashed his young minion or not.

On the other hand, if it doesn't matter at all, why bring up Billy Graham? Are you arguing that evangelicals haven't had any kind of effect on the GOP these last several years?

  • frank

    Mr. d,
My point was that all these hairsplitters who are now so fond of finding any mud in Mr. Obama's past were needed eight years ago and strangely silent. They sat back and allowed a dyslexic idiot with serious Oedipus issues to become president. Mr. Bush did not merely lower the bar, he threw it away.

  • larry d.

Very insightful, frank. But your thinly veiled homoerotic Bush fantasies are a bit off topic when it comes to deciding whether the Manchurian is a raving Marxist/black separatist wannabe, or a secret Muslim in league with the similarly named Osama.
