There is no way in this world that you are going to convince me that savagery is the answer. That's ridiculous. This isn't the 19th century. If people in responsible positions do their damn jobs, while following the law, they'll catch the bad guys.

I'm tired of hearing about how savage the enemy is because they cut off heads. Yes, it's gruesome….but is it really more savage than destroying an entire country…..is it any more savage than being responsible for several hundred thousand dead Iraqis? There has to be a sense of proportion when spouting the "they chop heads off, see how evil they are" line.

The key that unlocks the code to what you refer to here(mistakenly) as 'neo-con thinking' is – REALITY. You should try it sometime.

Or I could be wrong, and maybe Khalid Shaikh Mohammed would have told us all he knew if we just asked him nicely and maybe offered him a cookie as enticement (after he put down Daniel Pearl's severed head). When a big old ugly boil develops on your face…..and someone points it out to you…..should the one that points it out be tortured for pointing it out? Or would he just be wrong, and therefore tortured, because he didn't understand why that boil was, in actuality, a good and necessary thing all along?
