larry:

What Obama should say is that there is no religious test of any kind that must be passed in order to run for president and in the spirit of returning our country to one in which law and order are still regarded highly, I won't be answering any religious questions.

That's what he should say. If he did, there is no doubt that the media, pushed by the likes of Dobson, and Limbaugh would create the narrative that Obama was anti-religion, secretive, has a guilty conscience, or some such mindless drivel. You know that's how it would be.

That clueless narrative would subdivide and grow into an even more clueless combo narrative where Obama won't comment on, or answer questions about, religion.....because Obama really IS a Muslim. That's what he's hiding.

King: I re-read what I said in my last comment. I wouldn't change any of it.

It still looks like your suffering from a bout of political dyslexia. Reality is....there is a double standard here being used by mainstream media. It is winking at McCain while airhorning Obama.

You believe the media is liberal and therefore, beause that's your starting point, Obama is being favored using a lower standard and The Maverick is the one under constant media seige, held unfairly, in your mind, to a higher standard.

larry,
you are clearly driving the Rev further over the edge here.

But it's sure funny watching his twists and turns of illogic.

Has anybody mentioned Obama's claim that the Sermon On The Mount meant Jesus was in favor of gay marriage ?

Blessed are the interior decorators...

Maybe he should go with something like, "Jesus is like an old uncle to me who happens to say some silly things."

If Obama refused to answer these questions about Jesus, then THAT refusal would be used against him.

It's the typical Knee Pad fun game of Catch 22.

McCain can be praised for actively seeking the endorsement of a dangerous and hate-filled nut. He can be openly honored and pleased to accept the extremist nut's support. The Knee Pad Brigade will not demand a rejection OR a denouncement from the Straight Talker. The reason? He's the Republican nominee. The GOP is the party of intolerant, extremist nuts. Nothing else could possibly be expected from McCain.

Obama, never having sought nor asked for a different religious nut's endorsement, must, simply must, denounce AND reject that same endorsement he never sought. On prime time teevee, to boot. The reason? He's the Democratic nominee. The Democratic Party is the party of inclusiveness and tolerance. Thus Obama must either self-flagellate because an intolerant nut endorsed him or Obama, himself, is an intolerant extremist nut.

Like I said. It doesn't have to make sense.

If Obama says he loves Jesus, then predictably, the right will denounce and reject his words as pandering. If he says he doesn't love Jesus, then predictably, the right will denounce and reject him for being an infidel. If he doesn't say anything, he's hiding something.

There's really nothing more to say.....except...anticipate more of exactly the same kind of double standard.

I fully expect the next six months or so to finally demonstate to the world that America is in the middle of a non-stop state of decline.

When a country refuses to confront reality, it deserves to fail.

I guess he's pandering to the far right neo-con evangelicals even worse than McCain. He can bring people together!

If Obama had not declared his undying belief in Jesus, those on the right who use inflammatory rhetoric would declare that as proof he was actually a Muslim in UCC clothing.

I don't like any of this, to say the least. If Obama refuses to play this childish game, however, Knee Pad Boys like Russert will demand to know why.

Politics in America. It doesn't have to make sense.

And I agree with the commenter who said the media monsters would have gone after Hillary if she had recieved an endorsement by an extremist.

No, I meant Barack. I heard him say the other day how devout he is and how he prays every night. He seems pretty superstitious.

larry: Yes...Hillary thought she saw just a bit of daylight to run through on the Farrakhan thing. But the Champion of All Knee Padders started it all. Still a double standard. And perfectly understandable, at least to conservatives.

Muslim extremist leaders are to be rejected repeatedly.....when they can't be killed openly, that is. Christian extremist leaders are never to be rejected, because extremist Christians make up a third of the GOP political base.

Pretty simple to understand, really. What would be notable is if McCain would have clearly and openly rejected and denounced Hagee.

Poor John McCain, once a man who would have called Hagee part of "the agents of intolerance", must now say publicly that he is "honored" to have one of those "agents" endorsement.

"Jesus freak candidate"?....you mean the Huckster? Hey, I like Mike. He plays bass and knows "Born to be Wild". What other qualifications could possibly be needed by a presidential candidate? Oh yeah, and he loves Jesus too.

King: The Reverend is much better looking than The Rovester. And a lot more honest.

What's going on with your Jesus freak candidate Reverend? The latest I hear is he's been praying nightly with the Canadian consultant, asking for more guns and less jobs.

Here is comment that would have been first on this article had aforementioned
"spam" filter (called:Akismet) been turned off of me....

However--had Hillary been endorsed by the KKK, or other such extremist group, and she 'refused' to 'renounce' (lame) or reject that endorsement, saying that, " I can't help it if somebody likes me," --then do you think America would say collectively, "OH, okay, you're right--go ahead and don't reject that endorsement by the KKK, Hillary---we forgive you for taking that support of a man or a group of millions of jew/negro haters"?

Yahhhh---right! Get real.
