Maybe it's because that segment believes the teevee programs they watch are real....or....maybe it's because we live in a more instant gratification minded society, justice in 60 minutes or less or your money back, kind of thing....whatever the cause, the result has led to 1% Doctrine hypotheticals of dirty bombs and minutes to explosion, and on and on.....all to justify savagery. Torture to neo-cons is not merely savage means to, what they claim, a higher good. To neo-cons savagery is it's own reward. It's a show of force to those simpleton Muslims who everybody knows, as a people, can't respond to anything else. I think 2/3rds of the U.S. reject torture or savagery, the bad news....1/3rd doesn't. Actually, we have a legal definition of torture that we have agreed to, the Geneva Conventions. As a signed treaty, it has the full force of US law.
