Why Are They So Crazy?
Posted October 25th, 2007 by The Reverend

You think the guy in the picture is crazy?
FOX media actually tried yesterday to tie Islamic terrorists in with the Southern California fire disaster. To which Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow responded….
KO: Why are these guys and the rest of the right so in love with the trappings of patriotism and at the same time, helping Al Qaeda by manufacturing these super-human powers that Al Qaeda supposedly has? [..]
RM: They have to come up with super-human powers for Al Qaeda because they want to use Al Qaeda to justify a super-extreme agenda for the United States of America. If you really, really want to radically transform our government and radically transform who we are as a country; if you want East German style policing, and people informing on their neighbors, and you want to get rid of the Fourth Amendment, and you want endless wars conducted for profit; if you want to completely get rid of the safety net function and the regulatory function of the government; if you have an agenda that radical, you better have a really radical justification for it. And so they have to elevate this band of death cults, fundamentalist criminals into a threat that is greater than the Soviet Union ever was when they not only had a military but they had thousands of nuclear weapons pointed at our country. They have to make Al Qaeda even worse than that. Link
When a nail is hit that squarely, another swing of the hammer is unnecessary.

It sure sounds ridiculous, but how was the tie-in made? I'm not a Fox fan, but can't really take your or Keith Olbermann's word for it, either.

"….FOX and Friends this morning 10/24/07 reported an item from FOX News correspondent Adam Housely's blog. Allegedly he was receiving questions from readers about the source of the fires.
According to Steve Doocy, they learned that "police officers in a hovering helicopter saw a guy starting one of these fires." An "ominous" FBI memo from early this past summer has "popped up," and "an Al Qaeda detaineee" has said that the next wave of terrorism could be a series of wildfires. Of course, he could be lying and California was not mentioned on the list of possible target states, but there is a possibility that it's terrorism and we can't let a day go by without reminding you how scared you should be."
There's no question that FOX nuts were doing their level best to cheer for the neo-con 24/7 fear machine. Rachel Maddow was addressing the question of WHY FOX does what it does. And she is dead on. It couldn't have been said any better.
The FBI "memo" mentioned is several years old, California is not mentioned and there is not any other intelligence of any kind to justify FOX nuts saying what they did. They simply misled their viewers. Shocker.

I'm not sure I follow who's saying what in your quotes, Reverend. But like I said, I'm not a fan of Fox News and don't watch it and who cares anyway. The people who believe that network are as dense as the ones who like Olbermann.

I hadn't heard Fox News blame terrorists for the fires, but authorities are saying at least two of the fires were due to arson. I have heard CNN blame the fires on global warming about 75,000 time already, though.
This from Rachel Maddow:
"…this band of death cults, fundamentalist criminals into a threat that is greater than the Soviet Union ever was when they not only had a military but they had thousands of nuclear weapons pointed at our country. They have to make Al Qaeda even worse than that".
I've never heard ANYONE suggest that Al Qaeda was a worse threat than the Soviet Union was. I think Maddow made that up. The first thing liberal extremists always do is make stuff up, and then they attack what they just made up, instead of attacking reality.
Olbermann, as always, is an idiot. Two of the three people who watch his show agree.

Da King says:
"I've never heard ANYONE suggest that Al Qaeda was a worse threat than the Soviet Union was. "
I think Huckabee saying this on Oct. 21 on Fox News Sunday would qualify:
"…I like to be funny, let me be real honest with you. There’s nothing funny about Hillary Clinton being president. Let me tell you why. If she’s president, taxes go up, health care becomes the domain of the government, spending goes out of control, our military loses its morale, and I’m not sure we’ll have the courage and the will and the resolve to fight the greatest threat this country’s ever faced in Islamofascism."

Jimmy,
I stand corrected. That was an idiotic statement by Huckabee (only the 'greatest threat' part. The rest was accurate). I'd say the Nazis were a tad bit more dangerous than the Islamofascists. The USSR too.

The point still stands. Maddow's point was WHY Knee Pad FOX people had to, in the very least, make an attempt to construe every potential violence or disaster related story into an Islamofascisism fear orgy.
Maddow's very correct answer of (paraphrasing) "they have a very extremist agenda, so they need an extremist enemy to scare us all with", is exactly correct. To steal as much of the Treasury's money as they can…..to conduct the wildest and most radical of all imperialistic foreign policy doctrines,…..to politicize each and every corner of federal government, including justice and defense,…..to attempt to put in place a permanent Republican majority by hook or, what it really was, by crook….to openly violate laws and the Constitution….to do all this, a very scary, almost supernatural enemy was required.
Why do you think Bush-bots allow us to see those Bin Laden tapes. The Bush-bots need Osama. Osama will go down as the greatest diversionary character in history. If you want to rob a bank, setting fire to a big building across town could divert the police's attention for a spell…..Osama is the burning building.
